Awful lot of entrants, but seems like fewer big names than Beast of East ?
How do you guys expect Teag to do?

Would be nice to see Hutcherson assert himself.

Seems like Teag is wrestling the level of a non-placing state qualifier right now. He’s gotten big-brothered a few times. Not sure if undersized or just needs to mature physically. He’ll continue to jump levels, but maybe not so soon as to place here.

Powerade seeds are a trip.
Turi as the 7 seed is hilarious.

Also 189, 6 Harvey and 7 Snyder. It reeks of: they had Harvey well below Snyder, oh crap Harvey beat him pretty bad last week, need to slip him in somewhere.

But almost as funny as Powerade seeds, is the list of guys who they don't seed.

They must prioritize last year’s Powerade placement over everything else. Karenbauer win it last year after beating Farnsworth in semis.
This I can understand. A returning champ should always get some extra juice from a seeding commit and it’s very hard to displace him as the one seed, especially after he beat the kid in the same tournament last year. Willie should cut them a break on that, that’s a good decision in that context.

Some of the other ones are pretty questionable though. It’s almost like there are certain kids that they didn’t pay attention to. Bautista at 127 unseeded; when you look at some of the kids that were seeded at that weight is mystifying. He’s got a 4th in NJ on his resume. It looks like some kids may have gotten extra credit for past Powerade medals. I agree with this for champs, but sometimes you need to recognize that a particular weight may not have been strong at your tournament or that something funky happened in a bracket and a low medal isn’t quite representative of the wrestlers abilities. We certainly have that come up sometimes at ETR.

The seeding at Turi’s weight is head scratching as well. I know Declan had a great run at their tournament last year but that is one of those situations I’m talking about and in that case I’m looking more at total resume.

Lemovitz works to his feet, but Sidum brings him back to the mat, then cuts him, 3-1. Sidun drops in on a leg & finishes another TD, 6-1. He's looking for a turn, but Lemovitz bellies out. Sidun cuts Lemovitz, 6-2. He presses forward & adds another TD, 9-2, then cuts Lemovitz again, 9-3. Sidun hits a head outside single for another TD & rides out the period, 12-3.

Period 2:
Lemovitz takes down. He works to his feet & gets the escape, 12-4. Sidun drops in on a leg & finishes another TD, 15-5, then cuts Lemovitz, 15-5. 172: R32- Teag Sanderson vs. Emory Gunby (BM)

Period 1:
Walked in at the perfect time! Teag drops to a leg, then works to rear standing. Gunby rolls, but Teag stays with him & works back to rear standing, then finishes the TD, 3-0. Teag is riding Gunby on the edge. Out of bounds & restart. Gunby is still down. Teag goes optional start, escape Gunby, 3-1. Teag reaches for a leg, but can't finish. Gunby drives forward & hits a double, but finishes out of bounds, no scoring. Teag shoots a double & finishes the TD, 6-1. He's riding Gunby on the edge again. Out of bounds & restart. Gunby is still down. He rolls, but Teag stays with him & gets Gunby bellied out. Teag rides out the period. 6-1 Teag

Period 2:
Teag takes down. He works to his feet & gets the escape, 7-1. Circling & collar ties. Teag looks for an opening, but Gunby blocks him off. Gunby tries a 2 on 1, but Teag pulls free. Teag shoots & my feed freezes. It's back & he's looks for a cradle, then finishes the TD, 10-1. Teag has a boot in & the feed cuts out again. "Technical difficulties." It's back with 46-sec left. Gunby is starting down. He quickly turns & looks to have a reversal, but the feed craps out again. I'm going to call that a reversal for Gunby, 10-3.

That's all the coverage for this match. My feed cut out during the 2nd period & did not return before the end of the match.

Teague Sanderson DEC Emory Gunby 11-9
