Speaking of Zahid, ole Taylor coached him up big time! Complete animal at worlds. Obviously Taylor learned the system from Cael. Goes to show that yes , Penn State gets the athletes but, to jump levels like they do the coaching is instrumental in their further development.
What Taylor did to Zahid was shocking.
As is what Cael does over and over again. I'd like to see Lee go to the NLWC ASAP. It's a shame he hasn't gotten to fulfill his dreams.
Well guess your a taylor jock sniffer

And yes, I am back with a new handle. Same Reslo, but apparently the anesthesia from a recent surgery made me forget my old email and password. So Reslo1 it is!
Here sir. I found this for you.

79kg championship.

Edit: @zzs006 I had not read your comments before my post, but it is obvious great minds think alike : )

I loved seeing Levi hit that first four on the edge when he was in danger of being pushed out. That position is historically one where it seems American wrestlers haven't fared well. You can see Levi's freestyle mat awareness/IQ improve nearly each match lately. Also, that second four Levi hit off his double was a beauty. Once again his positional awareness was impressive as he managed to not allow his opponent to counter the double for points of his own. Someone mentioned earlier how having a workout partner like Dake is so beneficial in sequences like that one. Having someone with Dake's knowledge and skills at NLWC is huge. Even if Dake has lost a step or two recently as a competitor, his presence in the room is invaluable, especially for someone like Levi, who is in the early stages of his freestyle career. I am so glad Kyle didn't follow David to Oklahoma State.

And finally, Levi only turned 21 in August. For comparison, Kyle will be 35 in February and David will be 35 in December. I am very excited to watch Levi's progression as his career unfolds. I think us fans are going to be blessed to watch Levi compete at a high level for many more years to come.

Really? If being a fan of Taylor means that , then yes I am. What opportunities did he have for continuing his career at PSU? Cael isn't going anywhere.
One of the most storied PSU and certainly NLWC wrestlers of all time, you bash him. Lol
You should be proud of him, not bashing him for moving on in his career.
I'll bet Cael is proud of him!

By the way what is he on the PSU list of nc’s
The world looks at world hardware. He was NLWC and is a PSU alum. I can guarantee that the majority of high level recruits have bigger goals than NC's.
You just saw an example of it the last few days.
He has the same amount of NC's as Burroughs.
You think Bo or Nick would trade a
NC for an Olympic gold?

I have called it before. The timing might be about right. Mitch will replace Cael when he retires.

He has the right temperament, values, coaching lineage and by the time Mitch is done, his resume will be second to none amongst his peers.

Mitch is a psych major. I’m thinking he might be Bonnie’s replacement in a couple of years, and also continues to compete internationally.

I gave you a like, Psalm, for your courage to shamelessly beg for likes.

Bless you, my Son! It is hard on my soul to beg for likes, but if I can manipulate a few more posters like you into giving my posts some extra likes it will have all been worth it. I leave you with these blessings: May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead, may your chicken nuggets always come with an extra one! and may you never get into a debate with MSU158.

Excellent point. Having someone like Dake in the room is tremendously valuable. I recall someone on here once suggested we shouldn’t be paying Dake any longer if he wasn’t making world teams as he aged. His influence on Levi and others is obvious. Pay the man!

I just wanted to say how great Levi looked this tournament. Maybe it was his lack of prior freestyle matches, but I didn't have particularly high hopes for him in freestyle. I'm a believer now! He is great at controlling center and aggressively hand fighting. His physicality, strength and the ability to get to the legs from tight quarters makes him a formidable opponent. It was also great to see him get a turn using the head between the thighs technique that so many wrestlers used at the World Championships. As he starts adding to his technique repertoire I foresee continued success for him in freestyle.
Levi competed at 2021 U17 Worlds, and IIRC he was the world team trials runner-up the next year to Mesenbrink.

PJ mentioned that he had "a lot of weight to lose" in order to make weight for the weigh-in before his bronze medal match. This is just one more data point that his days at 157 are numbered. If the cut to 70kg (154 pounds) is this hard for him, having to make 157 multiple times during a college season might just be a "bridge too far" for him. Time will tell. This is just one of the many storylines for Penn State I will be interested to follow this season.

I've been all warm and fuzzy today looking back to after Cael ran off his first 4 national titles. Then having PSU fans telling HR the next step would be Cael building his RTC into the best in the country and burying the HWC. Getting laughed off of their board for suggesting what was gonna happen was good stuff....really good stuff.
As good as when you told them Lee wouldn’t make the 23 finals and the hawks would have zero champs

Yes...meant to say that Iran had a max of 20 while we had a min of 20....that is still wrong as the site was not updated. At this point I will just go into the corner and color, but as always I won't stay in the lines!
Mike Poeta is on line 1

It's not quite that simple. Garavous isn't a lock for his 2 points, and it's probably more likely he doesn't get them. That would bring USA's max down to 135.

Iran can still get to 136
I was thinking 2 for him . Also I don't see Iran getting 2 bronze medals . I had them max 136 as well but don't see them hitting that

I am racking my brain and the internet to no avail. Has there ever been a team with Six Age Group World Champions are one team? Luke (all three), Blaze (U17, U20), Duke (U20), Messenbrink (U20, U23), Haines (u23), Barr (U20). That’s not even including Jayden James who won U17s.
That also doesn’t even include the bronze medalists Mirisola twins. I honestly don’t know if there has ever been a more accomplished team.

I don't believe it's ever happened. I can't think of a team . I haven't gone digging but I say no

Barr took 2nd at U20’s. He lost to Russia’s Kadiev in the finals. Still absolutely incredible collection of talent on one team!

I don’t even care. He was a tranformative wrestler that led the parade of greats and a critical part of our teams greatness. 2/1/2/1 in his college career and world gold. It is arguable he is our greatest wrestler.
He copied and was trained by the transcendent wrester. Yes he helped other PSU greats but lets put the praise of him and other great PSU wrestlers were it belongs. Cael and company made him and the other PSU wrestlers better than anyone else could or can.

Both can be true and are. Cael can be all of that and he is also not Penn State’s greatest wrestler. Not even arguably.

Assuming that 92 points is correct and the NLWC was a country, we would be 3rd.

We would be trailing the U.S. and Iran.
As it stands, would be trailing only Iran… the rest of the US would have 30…

Of course, the next best US guys at our seven weights would probably have a decent bunch of points, and our entries at the three weights we would add might have some too!
