STOP LETTING THESE GROWN MEN AVOID WRESTLING BY CRYING ABOUT INJURIES THAT MYSTERIOUSLY DONT HAMPER THEIR MOVEMENT AFTER THE WHISTLE.

for the love of god, this **** isn’t difficult. If they don’t return, it’s injury timeout. Check by uww doc, back to center. Second time you ask for it, opponent gets a point or you start in par terre.

******* atrocious.

I don't have two screens today so couldn't do PBP, but very basically
  • Aoyagi's first two came off a counter to a Mesenbrink mistake
  • Mesenbrink won two separate scrambles to go up 4-2
  • Aoyagi's only shot allowed him to get behind Mesenbrink and eventually go ahead 4-4, where it remained until 20 seconds remained and...
  • Mesenbrink converted on double he sucked in and eventually converted with less than seconds to go up 6-4. An Aoyagi YOLO challenge failed so final was 7-4
  • Throughout the match Aoyagi looked gassed and nursed time with a finger injury that was taped up. He should've at least been cautioned and he definitely should have been put on the clock for inactivity because Mesenbrink did all the work.

Some of us are at work and not watching some context and background would be appreciated.
My bad. Aoyagi did not engage and spent as much time as possible catching his breathe at any possible break in action including refusing to return to center multiple times. He was never put on the clock. Aoyagi must have celebrated his world championship hard because he was tired in the first period.

Who will Mesenbrink face in the finals?

We now know that Mesenbrink will face Turkey's Muhammed Ozmus in the 74-kilogram U23 Worlds gold medal match. He teched his way to the semis before winning by decision in his semifinal.

Put on the clock 3 times. What a disgrace. If you are too injured to wrestle then forfeit. And not just the wrestler. Was the ref paid to not referee. I know, a bit harsh but my gaud.
Let's face it, that's what being from the USA gets you in any Olympic sport where humans are judging or officiating. I'm 66, and it's been that way since I can remember.

Round 2:
74kg- Mitchell Mesenbrink vs. Parvinder Parvinder (IND)
92kg- Josh Barr vs. Alperen Tokgoz (TUR)

Both matches are on Mat C. Mesenbrink will be up first. He's about 8 matches out, I'm estimating he'll be up around 6:10-6:30 Eastern. Barr will be up a few matches after Mesenbrink.

Are Indians the least creative globally, when it comes to naming their kids?

All the Mohammads say hold my beer.

I’m confused. Is that 2 5-0 wins or a 20-0 TF?

Didnt MacCauley Culkin change his middle name and now is MacCauley MacCauley Culkin Culkin?

I know not one, but two people named William Williams, so it also happens in the US.

Me too lol we called him Bill Bill
My dad’s cousin, Thomas Thomas Thomas, says hello!

Mitchell Mesenbrink is a BAD ******* man!! What a win. Aoyagi is making the full time move to 74kg so he must think or know that he can beat 2025 74kg world champion Takahashi. 74kg is so deep and has a ton of elite talent but with this win I think Mesenbrink is top 3 in the world. I know he lost to Carr at trials but I see him owning that series going forward. Carr is obviously elite and will be a great challenge every time they wrestle but I think Mitchell continues to jump levels. He’s a straight killer and is so much fun to watch. PSU and NLWC are loaded with talent and guys who always bring it but Mesenbrink is my favorite I think

Did you bring your hip to the party?

Thank you for the otherworldly PBP! No repechage for you.
Funny story. A few years back I was living in Arizona. I fell & broke my big toe. A couple days later I was behind the house wearing sandals & got bitten by a rattlesnake on the same broken toe. That took a couple years to fully heal & I'm now working on getting back the flexibility & range of motion that I lost while limping around for a couple years. The worst injury I've ever had.

The takedown at the end, when Mesenbrink was losing on criteria, was really impressive. You have to have wrestled to comprehend just how difficult it is to pull in a double when both the defensive wrestler is sprawled and the shooter has their head stuffed down. Mesenbrink's ability to pull that in reminded me of Nolf, who was one of the best I've ever seen at completing the TD from that position.

Levi is excellent at that as well.

Sorry to hear it Pete, that sounds rough! As a comic aside, is losing toe mobility a cause of superhuman finger speed? Kinda like hearing for the blind?

I'm 95% of the way back to normal now & feeling great!

Nope. I had superhuman finger speed long before the injury. Lol. I started working on finger speed at a young age with lots of piano lessons.
