61kg Final- Jax Forrest vs. Omurbek Asan Uulu (KGZ)

Period 1:
Another Uulu. If an Uulu married a Babaloo, would they become the Uulubabaloo's or the Babaloouulu's? Food for thought. Here we go! Tying up. Uulu drives forward. Jaxx pancakes him, 4-0. Uulu rolls to his belly. Jax is working for a turn, but can't find one. Back to neutral. Uulu pushes forward again. He has Jax on the edge & drives him out, 4-2. Back to neutral. Tying up. Jax tries a throw by. Uulu fights him off, counters & takes Jax to the edge. Out of bounds & restart. Uulu drives forward again. He has Jax on the edge, then spins behind for the TD, 4-4, adv. Uulu. Back to neutral. Circling & hand fighting. Uulu drives forward. Jax drops to his knees & it's a stalemate, neutral restart. Uulu pushes forward again, drags & tries to come behind, but Jax fights him off. Uulu has an ankle & is trying to come behind. Jax tries to step over. They're scrambling on the edge & Uulu pushes Jax out, 5-4. Back to neutral. Circling, head tapping & tying up. Jax presses forward, shoots & gets a leg. He elevates the leg, drags & comes behind. Uulu is in a quadpod. Jax reverses direction & flips Uulu over & out for 4, 8-5 Jax

Uulu is challenging the last call. Challenge lost, point Jax, 9-5.

Period 2:
Back to action. Uulu drives forward. Jax drops to his knees on the edge. He pops up & tries to circle back in, but steps out, point Uulu, 9-6. Back to neutral. Jax attacks the legs immediately & finishes a quick TD, 11-6, no turns. Back to neutral. Circling & tying up. Uulu pushes forward & tries an underhook, Jax slips a little & Uulu comes behind for the TD, 11-10. No turns, neutral restart. Jax is bleeding & getting a nose plug now. Back to action, 2-min left. Uulu drives forward again. Jax drops to his knees. Uulu keeps driving & spins behind for the TD, 12-11, out of bounds & restart. Circling & tying up. Jax shoots, Uulu counters. Jax is down on his knees, but still has Uulu's arm. Stalemate & restart, 90-sec left. Circling & tying up. Uulu tries an underhook & they break. Jax snatches an ankle, then comes behind & flips Uulu over & out for another 4, 17-12. I think that was the same move he used at the end of the 1st period. Back to action. Uulu presses forward, Jax circles back in. Uulu tries to come behind. Jax has a leg & is hanging on. Stalemate & restart. 33-sec left. Circling & tying up. Uulu presses forward. Jax reaches low. Uulu keeps pressing forward. Jax drops to his knees. Stalemate & restart. Uulu drives forward looking for an opening. Jax drops to his knees. Uulu keeps driving & gets an exposure, 17-14 & time expires shortly thereafter.

Jax Forrest DEC Omurbek Asan Uulu 17-14

Jax wins Gold!!!

Nice to see OG Bruce Baumgartner in there. He had such a legendary freestyle career. Between 1983 and 1996 he won thirteen World and Olympic medals, which included Olympic gold in 1984 and 1992 and Olympic silver in 1988 and 1996. His World medals include three World titles along with three World silver and three World bronze. It should also be noted that he only started wrestling in high school and his best finish in high school was third one year. In college he was NCAA runner-up twice and won the title his senior year.

Bruce was such a stud on the mat. Always had the best hair in the building too!

Great action when you don't have to watch biased refs, phony injuries and cold spray or endless challenges. I'm still sold on folk style. No interest in RAF.
All the growling about freestyle lungers and the outrageousness of the blatant injury timeouts. Folk is obviously a superior style. Just think, by the end of the third weekend in March we will have spent 4 and a half months growling about refs not calling stalling appropriately, all the damn edge wrestling, Tom Ryan and Mark Manning throwing lunger bricks and all of those biased referees.

Just watched Levi’s semi with a brat called Daudov. Did the child really think he could bully an actual bull? In such a violent sport, Levi’s calm, measured reactions to the boy’s tantrums are the definition of class.
That guy cracked me up! He thought he was so superior. Made a total *** of himself, lol. Levi is like his coach: letting the jackassery speak for itself is usually the best way to highlight it.
