I'm glad to see Memphis and LSU both at 6:00 on ESPNU. (Per the MSU site) I'm looking forward to a full day of tailgating for Memphis. I hope LSU will be a fun time at night!! I've never been to Death Valley before so this should be interesting!

Anyone got any recommendations on places to stay in Baton Rouge? I'll have the family with me which includes three girls 5, 6 and 9.

Taking your 3 girls is a big mistake. Many times the women at LSU are worse than the men. Several times bitches got stuff started and then get guys to jump you.

They've always been bad *** to hang out with and given me food/beer/etc. I'm guessing if you don't run around yelling "GO TO HELL LSU" like a lunatic, they probably won't just 17 with you for the sake of doing it. That or grow a sense of humor.

In 2000, I was 13 and whena group of 30 something year old guysbegan toheckle me about us losing to South Carolina so I reminded them that they had just lost to UAB. This lead to them surronding me attempting to fight until my dad and his friends were able to get me away from them. I don't know if I would bring kids to that environment because even at 5,6, and 9 they will get heckled. </p>

If you must take three girls, I'm assuming you'll be mostly sober. Keep a level head and you'll be fine. The bourbon drenched corndogs will be everywhere, but they aren't monsters who pick fights with families, at least not those with three young ladies. Unless you talk **** you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The atmosphere will be incredible, although I'm not sure your three girls will appreciate it that much.<div>
</div><div>People like me, on the other hand, have plenty to worry about... especially if we play well. I've already accepted the fact that if we win, I'll be lucky to end up anywhere other than the hospital or jail. But I'll take either if it means winning at night in Tiger Stadium.<div>
</div><div>As for places to stay, plenty of solid hotel options on I-10 between I-12 and the Perkins Rd. exit. All are about a mile (maybe two) from the stadium. Plenty of restaurants in this area as well. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn a few times and it's fine. Lots of State fans there two years ago.</div></div>

Although Vandy fans might be prone to say the 7 words all in 7 different languages none of which include english, spanish or french. Just sayin'.....

You know, the people who've never been to a night game at LSU but are convinced the stories are urban legend. That everyone embellishes. That it's really no different there than a night game anywhere else in the SEC.

Yeah... keep thinking that.

Sort of like playing in high speed traffic.

I'd go myself, but I would not wear Maroon, and just recognize that you are out numbered.

Not sure I'd take the girls.

.....that goes on everywhere- Not just LSU. There are places worse than others for overall atmosphere. I'll give you that.

Thanks for the advice. I just booked the Holiday Inn at College Dr and I-10. If I remember correctly, there is a "Ruth's Chris" and an "On the Border" right there, two of my favorite chains but I'm sure we'll be looking for some local hole-in-the wall joints for some good cajun food!

I've heard horror stories about Tiger Stadium but I've also heard similar stories about other stadiums. I've taken the girls to Bama, Tenn and Ark at War Memorial and had a great time at each and met some VERY friendly fans. What usually ends up happening is that the two oldest girls go shopping with mom and the youngest goes to the game with me. She's hooked on MSU.

We're also going to the Swamp to watch the Florida game so I'll probably be back asking for recommendations there too as I've never been to Gainsville.

My wool is VERY think right now so I'm going to predict a win at LSU and FL!!!!!!

Here's what 99 percent of MSU fans will experience at LSU - I have been every time we have played them since 1996.

You park on campus. As you get out of your vehicle. Someone yells Tiger Bait at you.
You begin walking toward the stadium. You encounter some more MSU fans and you begin to make small talk.
An LSU fan walks up to you and yells Tiger Bait.
You pass by numerous tailgates where groups are playing music, watching other games, eating and having a good time. 1 out of 3 of these tents will utter the phrase "Tiger Bait" directed toward you. Some of the tailgaters will engage in conversation with you.
You get to the stadium and realize that your gate is on the other side of the stadium - every year.
You get Tiger Baited with more frequency.
You start seeing nore maroon.
You get to the gate and there is a line of MSU fans waiting to get in - there are two rows of LSU fans yelling "Tiger Bait"
You finally get into the stadium and the Tiger Baiting returns to a moderate pace.
You get to your seat and you are among friends, however there are occasional Tiger Baits.
You watch MSU get their *** kicked on the field and decide to leave right after the 3rd quarter starts.
You hear Tiger Bait as you leave the stadium.
You get in your car and you are pissed at Croom.

What you actually hear from most people.
As I pulled on to campus, my car was literally shaken by a group of LSU students, yelling obscenities.
I finally was able to find a parking spot, only to have to dodge beer cans as I exited my car from nearby tailgaters, yelling obscenities.
I was able to get my wife and child away from the barrage of beer cans, only to have to walk 5 miles to the stadium.
Every single LSU fan I encountered yelled obscenities at me, even one four year old girl told me to go 17 myself.
A 90 year old woman shot my family a bird.
There were LSU fans above the visitors gate, yelling obscenities and urinating off of the upper deck into the crowd of MSU fans.
When I got into the stadium, they put 50 LSU fans between every MSU fan. All of these LSU fans yelled obscenities at me and my family.
When MSU made a first down, I stood up, only to have a bag of feces thrown at me from someone that was yelling obscenities.
I was afraid for the safety of my family so I left after the start of the third quarter. An LSU fan pushed me and challenged me to a fight.
When I got back to my car, it was spray painted purple and I had to chase away thugs trying to light it on fire.

I did have one instance in which an LSU fan (definitely not an LSU tuition payer or graduate) stuck his hand for me to shake it and smart-assedly said "good luck today, you're gonna need it" as I was hurriedly passing by on my way to a tailgate... I, with my girlfriend at the time (now wife), both kept our heads down, and continued our hurried walk to our company's tailgate that we were going too. While I said "thanks", I never looked at him directly (I peered through my suglasses) and didn't acknowledge his handshake.I probably could've held my own against him, but not the other zillion LSU fans that would've piled on.

After about 10 steps, the guy proceeded to follow us and cuss at us, threaten to kick our asses, etc...in a very loud, arrogant way for roughly 300 yards. He never got within 20 feet of me, so I never stopped. LSU fans were apologetic too us as we continued walking. My wife was very, very scared after this incident and didn't want to stray from the tailgate we were at anymore. This was in Croom's last trip to BR in 2008.

To say it never happens, is untrue... Were we harmed in any way? Absolutely not... but what happened was across the line, in my opinion.

But other than that instance... the worst that's been done to me was "Tiger Bait" and pointing... which doesn't bother me one bit.

Rule #1 Don't wear any MSU gear.
Rule #2 Don't talk back to the drunk corndogs unless you are packing heat
Rule #3 Don't have MSU stuff on your car, or it will get vandalized.
Rule #4 If we win, smile real big and get out of Death Valley in a hurry...</p>
