Has Pope had a fully healthy roster in ANY game he has coached at UK? I can't remember.
The other problem is that the clock is ticking. The opportunities for resume building wins are passing by. When will we be healthy? If we're 7-6 heading into SEC play, how many games will we need to win in conference to even make the tournament?
We're almost at the point of no return, I'm afraid. Pope recruited a bunch of role players and paid them like starters. There's no way around it. If Quaintance is an NBA type star, he's the ONLY one.
Lowe and Mo played against Louisville and we honestly didn’t look that much better. I like the idea of JQ being a defensive anchor, but it seems over the top to think he turns what looks like a bubble team or worse right now into a legit contender, especially since we aren’t sure if he’ll be 100% of what he was last year as soon as he returns.

this all comes down to Pope not signing another PG. It’s wild considering what happened last year but here we are.

We have multiple selfish players/bad shot takers: Johnson, Garrison, Oweh, Mo D, Lowe. How does that change with a fully healthy roster?
The issue with this logic is that you're assuming Lowe and Mo D are anything more than high-level role players. They're not. This team has one upper echelon player in Oweh (who is playing poorly and selfishly for the most part) and 11 role players. JQ was never expected to be back before January, and he's only a 9 and 7 guy who's somehow been anointed the next Chris Webber.
And your best-case scenario of UK being a top 10-12 club with a $15-20 million dollar roster says it all. You spend that much money, and you better put a top 5 team on the floor.

Took some gambles on guys with injuries, something I personally am never a fan of regardless of talent and potential.
Especially in the OAD and now portal era when you’re taking shots on guys who ultimately will play very little if at all do to “NBA stock” and now what they can fetch in open NIL/portal market.
I’m not saying Perry would make a huge difference, but he is a PG and he did fine last season being thrown into things. Might not be “elite” but he played hard and year 2 in the system he could at least hold the fort.
We’ve had a lot of players who weren’t “elite, athletic, big, or fast enough…” contribute and be productive parts of the team…
