Just penalized?

This was one of the craziest things I have ever seen. Justin Witt (NC State) blocks a CC D-lineman 10 yards down the field and the kid flips him over and starts throwing haymakers at him. As the LWW kids approach the situation, two other CC players blindside two additional LWW players. All in all, 30 yards in penalties assessed against CC and (3) total ejections. Refs did a good job keeping it to a minimum and penalties led to a LWW score just before half. After the game heard the CC kid had a history of doing things like this.

I have seen several plays like this in a couple of games this year, I wasn't there but I'll bet the OL blocked him for the first couple of yards then gets a hold of the pads which is holding and starts driving him back where the kid can't do anything about it and by the refs not calling the blatant hold leads to kids losing there kool.

If you are inside the shoulder pads and driving your feet a hold should never be called IMO

True but any descent linemen can shake that off after a few yards getting pushed back and when u can't shake it off it's a HOLD!!!!!!!

While this may have been the case (I started following the action just as the CC kid flipped the LWW player over), it still does not justify someone throwing 8 - 10 punches at an opposing player. I have to give the LWW players credit because they did not do something just as stupid in retaliation. From my understanding, if they did and were ejected, they would not be able to play in the state game next week.

No one is saying what the kid did was right I simply said kids seem to lose there kool on little plays like this that refs seems to over look at times, and like it or not when your taking a beating on the field and a play like this gets over looked this is what Happenes,it leads to cheap shots and brawls.not going to be the first time this has ever happened and it's certainly not going to be the last.

I never thought you were saying what the kid did was right and agree 100% that it was a frustration move as LWW was beating CC on both the OL and DL. It was unfortunate, crazy to see a person on the field throwing punches on the field with such venom and, unfortunately as you say, not the last time this will happen.

By chance I happened to get paired up in a foursome with a guy whose son is on the offensive line at LWW and he was telling me about their size up front. What do they put in the water in New Lenox/Manhattan?

That's when refs need to be more aware especially in games like this when there is a lot on the line, and when the other team is catching a beating on both sides of the ball in a playoff game is when tempers flair and nothing to lose mentality kicks in.and if it's the players last game and just happens to be his last yr in the program it's when players Are going to just let it loose not care what the consequences are going to be after the whatever altercation he's involved in.

So only CC guys were throwing punches. Hard to believe.

The LWW lineman just laid there motionless and took the punches. Never moved. The other (2) DQ's were when the CC players blinsided LWW players after the whole affair started. As far as I know, only 1 player threw punches. I don't imagine LWW was completely clean during all this but I don't think they threw any punches.

Crazy!now was Witt injured on the play or something not by the punches becuase it seems like he's just laying there and Witt is a big big boy I'm pretty sure he could of broken this kid in half but to just lay there seems strange.

And what's to say Witt didn't say something to this kid in the heat of battle bottom line is there seems to be more to the story than a kid just losing it like that.

In the game article I read, it did not mention Witt getting injured. I applaud his restraint. As you know, if he would have retaliated and gotten kicked out of the semi, he would have had to sit out the championship game.

Isn't it just as likely that Witt was dominating this kid at the los, the kid became frustrated and blind sided Witt?
The fact of the matter is that we don't know what led to this incident, and likely will never know. I imagine it is interesting to some to speculate what led to this incident, but in the end it is mere speculation, nothing more.

Yeah they were in the process of getting running clocked.

One of our D lineman got suspended for the state game when a kid from Centennial punched him when it became clear we were going to win. Ref threw both out. I am guessing nowadays with hudl that would of gotten overturned as it was clear e did not retaliate.

Kids get beat all the time play after play but for someone to start throwing blows just becuase he's getting beat cmon man.it does happen from time to time but like the thread said, the kid was getting blocked for about 10 yards they both fall and the kid flips Witt and starts throwing blows.Kids talk all kind of trash when playing football and maybe this kid was thin skinned and getting owned and a little trash talking on top of that is a recipe for disaster. But it is really hard for me to believe that by just getting beat it will come to blows, and kids do sneak in punches from to time as well see it all the time.

I think you are missing my point, neither you or me know why this occurred, or what caused this incident. Talking about it on a message board is mere speculation.

Sad to say but this seems to be the only interesting thread going on right now becuase there is no talk about any of the match ups in dekalb on any other thread.

Is there an appeal process for your kid?

I think he was talking about in previous season. @mc140?

Yes I was talking of a previous season. My point being that yes sometimes kids facing the end of their season will get pissed off and throw punches unprovoked. Especially when they are getting beaten badly.

Witt was not injured. He knew not to retaliate and from what I hear, he was pretty much laughing it off since he was hitting his facemask.

As I mentioned earlier, the AD from CC came up to the AD from LWW and explained to him this was not the first incident with this kid. Maybe he has anger issues and they took the better of him after this play.
