It looks like Colonial Heights and York will be battling to see who finishes 7th, and who finishes 8th. Their reward, Phoebus or Lake Taylor!!! Wow, what a reward. Talk about Trick or Treat.
3A playoffs

You know what sucks is Petersburg will likely miss out on the playoffs when they are probably the fifth or sixth best team in the region. Yes, Southampton has only lost two games (Colonial Heights and Poquoson), but look at who else they play. It's not the kids fault they have won the games scheduled. The team is rewarded for playing in a district with Class 1 and 2 teams while Petersburg is forced to play a district schedule of two class 3's, two class 4's, two class 5's and one class 6. The Wave even won all 3 if their OOD games. Petersburg's four losses are to undefeated Thomas Dale (class 6), undefeated Dinwiddie (class 4), playoff bound Matoaca (class 4), and Hopewell. The VHSL allegedly prides itself on fair play. Is this a shame or sham? Im not sure which. Sorry for the rant, but I feel bad for the Petersburg team.
It's also about your out of district schedule petersburg played John Marshall 2a 0_10 and Armstrong 3- 7 that hurt when it comes to points and I agree it sounds bad but that's the system that's setup.
The sleeper in 3A may be Hopewell. Brutal schedule for anyone but especially for a class 3 team. The BRD has space for 2 teams with Bruton clearly better suited to playing the eastern shore and northern neck teams. Hopewell and King William would be excellent choices.
Petersburg can go a different district with schools with the same enrollment. Examples Bay Rivers, Battlefield, or Jefferson district or create a new district. Its not just Petersburg there are a lot of schools that need to do this.
Dinwiddie/Dale and Highland Springs/Varina are the 2 huge games in the Richmond region this weekend. All 9-0 and clearly the 4 best teams in the area and Hopewell lost to 3 of them.
True I saw hopewell play dinwiddie and went toe to toe with them 21-13 after 3rd quarter then injures and turn overs hurt them and the Thomas Dale game they moved the ball up and down the field and turn overs killed them it was 28-12 after 3q and varina game turn overs killed them but they played tough so anyone they played will be a game.
