Today marks the 3rd straight year Gretna is not playing in Salem, the longest drought in 10 years. Next season will be the first in 10 years that no Hawk player has a state championship ring.
Here are a few suggestions for 2015:

Develop balance in the offense. You cannot run up middle 40 times a game and expect to win.
Use the off season to develop a passing game. Find a quarterback who can throw the ball.
Find some receivers and coach them up to catch ball.
Improve special teams, especially kick off coverage and returns.
Be able to make half-time adjustments.
Be aggressive on offense, don't settle for 3 and out on most possessions.

Return to playoffs and make a run.

Hawk....

But the change you want to see must begin with the young men who are not coming consistently or giving intense effort when they are there from Dec-June. I am pretty sure your coaches are there almost year round wanting to develop them. That is where championship teams are born and bred. My guess is that lack of off season dedication by the players themselves is the main problem at Gretna, not the play calling or the desire of the coaches to develop a more balanced talent pool..

Coaches do deserve part of the blame but the athletes need to look in the mirror as well. How bad do they want it and what price are they willing to pay to get it?
