Some of the freshmen get some at bats here in there, and get a start or two here and there. I don't think they would be much/any worse than some of the guys that we are starting, and they would be getting much needed experience.

If I remember correctly, Jaron, Frost, and Vickerson all started kind of slow at the plate last year, but they picked it up as the year went on. I hope that's the case this year.

I don't think that Collins is quite as bad as he is sometimes made out to be. Today, he went 1-2 with an RBI, a walk, and a sac bunt that led to another run. I'm not saying that he is good either- I just think that he's very average. His bat doesn't translate to first base well- no doubt about that, but he is hitting over .300 coming into today, and he plays pretty good defense and he can run pretty well. He's essentially the baseball team's version of Riley Benock.

....in fact the only guys under .300 are Vickerson at .261, Thigpen at .231, and Frost at .222. Collins is .302. Translate those averages to SEC numbers and they are going to be UGLY.
Meanwhile, Freeman doesn't pick up a bat and is hitting .421.

Norris is slumping, but I'd still rather see him in there than Collins.

Get him out. +*#$ this nonsense. Bradford should be the permanent center fielder. Stark should probably get a shot. Put the talent out there. The experience really doesn't mean much to this team.

And much longer will it take for Freeman to be a fixture in the lineup?

I disagree about the experience- yes, our freshmen are better from a talent standpoint, but they're still freshmen. The problem is sometimes freshmen play like freshmen- even the good ones. For example- CT Bradford thinking that ball four was a dead ball and that he could waltz over to third base, and then he got thrown out by a mile last weekend. And he's a good player.

Now, I'm not against playing the freshmen at all- but if we do, we need to be ready for some growing pains from time to time when they do play this year.

That's also what makes our future so exciting- the fact that we have so many talented freshmen. It's just a matter of getting them experience and developing them.

Sam Frost should be a role player. I think his best asset is his speed and defense, so he has some value, but not necessarily enough to where he should be a starting guy. He really should be a pinch runner/late inning defensive replacement.

We'll see about Collins- he started out really slow this year, and he built his average back up. He was hitting around .200 or so after the first weeks. To me, that's the biggest difference between Collins and the other guys other than Vickerson who was also slumping.

There are ways to get Collins and Freeman and Norris in the lineup.
