Not great certainly but it may have been a feeling or something inside of him rather than something the coaching staff did or didn't do regarding his commitment. The bright side is that we will have Pettaway, Brown, Mathis and Sinkfield back...the downside is that we just have no idea how good this kid could have been. Without line improvement, Jim Brown wouldn't do much back there so first things first - fix the o-line!
If he wants to be here great. If not that great too. We have won a lot of games before he committed and will win a lot more with or without him. Not our first decommit and won’t be the last.

I saw that, too, Allen, but he remains a 4 star on 24/7 and ESPN. He has a good offer list, which includes LSU, and is probably more important than his star rating, anyway.
This is true. When you see the teams that want you playing in the playoffs it kind of opens your eyes.

This kid, even if he comes/came here, would be a "project". Will be for anyone because he brings with him some significant baggage. Think Noel Devine/Jason Gwaltney type baggage.
Which way he would fall was and is iffy. He could beat the odds like Devine or not like Gwaltney. He will need a lot of support no matter. I'd put the odds 60/40 at best but won't say which I side with.
Which is why there shouldn't be such a thing called "verbal commitment." Signing day needs to be changed to a floating day that varies depending on when a recruit commits to a school. That will stop these fake commits dead in their tracks when they realize the only way they can commit is to sign a binding agreement.
