Let's just say I "like" our chances.
Oregon currently holds the advantage in his 247Sports crystal ball with five of the eight predictions. But Husker Online’s Nate Clouse said on “The Bottom Line” Monday that he thinks Hodgins could end up a Husker.

“The feeling I’m getting is if he’s OK with leaving home, he’s going to go to Nebraska,” Clouse said. “If he feels like he wants to stay closer to home, he’s going to stay and probably go to Oregon State or Oregon. But I think he’s comfortable with Nebraska, and I feel like his parents are very comfortable with Lincoln and the coaches and everything as well. I think he could be the next commitment here on the 19th.”

I don't follow recruiting that closely (thank God) - but based on the information included here in this post, I'm saying he's coming to Nebraska.

Kind of seems like a 50\50 proposition between Nebraska and Oregon. If we do land him, do we tell Calvin we are full and go Lewis or bust? Or are we willing to take 5 WR's if Calvin and Lewis both want in?

You take them all and actually will end up doing a RS for at least one of the guys so go get the best talent you can get.

We would take this group of five.

There are only 5 schollie WR heading into next season. DPE, Morgan, Williams, Alston and Spielman.

Makes sense, he doesn't even know who will be his head coach or wr coach at Oregon after this year.

I've seen this speculation on here several times lately. Why do you and others think Helfrich is gone? He's done pretty well every other year.

The fact that this year has been a disaster, and I think Phil knight has stated he would pay a coach 10 million a year to be great again. Not exactly a vote of confidence for Helfrich. Lol

It has been rumored that Phil Knight desperately wants to see a National Championship at Oregon before he dies. He is currently 78.

Since '09 (when Chip Kelly arrived) the Ducks have gone, 10-3, 12-1, 12-2, 12-1, (Helfrich starts here--->) 11-2, 13-2, 9-4 and now 3-7. Helfrich did well with Kelly's recruits but things are starting to tailspin.

Well he's gone 11-2, 13-2, 9-4, 3-6. Do you fire that guy?

I guess they can afford it. They should be able to afford better recruits too.

11-2 and 13-2 are fools gold. He had a stacked team (including Marcus Mariota). After Kelly's recruits have started to graduate, team has been in a noticeable decline.

Les Miles or does Notre Dame grab him?

Just curious if you were an AD and your super star coach leaves and you have a system in place, wouldn't you also give it to someone internally?

I just don't see how you scrap a system that was built already and successful.

You mean like Osborne to Solich?

System is one thing, ability to coach and utilize system not always equal.

FWIW he announces Friday evening and it's between the Huskers and Oregon State. Oregon is out.

Les Miles has been in talks for the Baylor job.

If he wanted to stay on the West Coast.... Why would the kid de-commit from the Division leader and then pledge to the worst team in the league? That doesn't seem like a wise choice but I know a lot of things factor in.... I hope we still have a chance.

Just what I heard last night....as of last night he was choosing the Beavers. Hopefully my source is wrong and he's N. But if not, we still have some very good options at WR.

Yah there's a fair bit of speculation last night that he's OSU, but I think we still have a little bit of an opening.

Wow, OSU would be an interesting choice. But we would still have alot of good options left to fill out our WR class: Lewis, Calvin, Taariq Johnson, Holloman, etc.

Believe Taariq has since reaffirmed his commitment to Cal... Not 100% sure on that but I believe I read that somewhere... but a lot can change between now and Februaury

The fact that he will choose Oregon State over Nebraska/Oregon should tell you exactly what kind of stage he is confortable with.

Good luck to him.

I saw somewhere else where he and/or his mother thought the "stage" was too big at Nebraska, odd for a 4-star WR. Plus, if that is the case why did he decommit from Wazzu? You get to play under the radar and catch a ton of balls. Oh well, hope it's just internet gossip and he is N.

We will see. But I'm sure we can all agree that we want guys who embrace the stage.
