4 straight Bowls, man it feels good.

Not only that but I think we're seeing the most talent/depth we've ever had here. Also, no worries at our always dreaded QB position. Not to mention, expansion. Our fan base needed those last 2 W's in a big way.

That's the truth. We went from a sizeable % of internetin' people wanted Mullen to possibly be fired to everyone is on the same page again. Those last 2 games were huge for Mullen's career at State.

This season is a prime example of why you let the season play out before you start jumping to conclusions or acting like and idiot on the internet.

There is still some cause for concern with Mullen but I agree - you let it play out. But I don't have a problem with people questioning each game individually.

Which is exactly what I said two weeks ago. Win the last 2 or lose the last 2 and our fanbase will be united. Split the last 2, and our fanbase will be split.

I don't have a problem with people questioning or intelligently debating every game, half, quarter or play. Key word is intelligently. Some people did it intelligently, but many did it in a way that wasn't very well thought out or smart.

I agree there is some concern with Mullen and Stricklin should still use this off season to communicate and set future expectations of the next 2 to 4 years.

To show my obsession, I looked up OM's bowl history.

The last time they went to 4(or more) in a row was 1971, coming off the Vaught years (Vaught resigned in 1970).

But has he beaten a Top 20 Team?
We also have an 0-15 streak vs ranked teams..
Those both need to change in 2014, and I expect they will...

I think they're big because they stopped the fan base from souring on him this offseason, but I'm not sure they matter that much long run because he will either address the issues that drove people crazy this year, in which case fans would get happy with Dan Mullen quickly, even if this year ahd ended on a sour note, or he will not address the issues that drove people crazy this year, in which case it won't take fans long to forget about the last two games.

The good news for Mullen and MSU is that not having two different styles of qb's on his roster and not having the option of pounding Perkins up the middle should make it easier for him to improve the offense for next year. If he improves the offense, retains Collins for defense, gets a kicking coach or shrink for Bell (depending on whether his issues are mechanical or mental); and gets a safer punt returner, and people will have to go back to complaining about his lack of recruiting titles.

Sorta reminds me of 1996(?) when Jackie's seat was getting warm. Then he upsets Bama and seemed to re-energize himself...and our program.

They went to 15 straight from 1957-1971.

In an unrelated note - Ole Miss played it's first black player in 1972.

Talent can offset or cover bad coaching at times. Les Miles or Nick Saban might not look so hot without the bottomless talent they have. Saban looked like an idiot to some Saturday night. Our problem has always been not having deep enough talent to cover some bad calls. Every coach makes bad calls but some have enough talent or are playing a bad enough team to cover that. Only about 19.87% of posters understand coaching and the game to see that.

before 1972, you mean. They haven't been to 4 straight Bowl games since integration. That tells you all you need to know.

The thing that really stuck out in that article was burying a player that died from injurIES suffered during fall practice.

Extremely off topic, but MSU elected a black player Mr. MSU at homecoming that same year. Man, we never get any good press.

I doubt y'all care but this isn't true.

We went to the following 4 bowl games in a row:
1997 Motor City bowl
1998 Independence Bowl
1999 Independence Bowl
2000 Music City Bowl

And then in 2001 after going 7-4, we were snubbed by the independence bowl for a 6-5 Alabama team we had beaten that year. We went on to go to the 2002 Independence bowl bowl and the Cotton bowl after the 2003 season. If it hadn't been for 2001 we would have went to 7 straight, but regardless we have in fact been to 4 in a row since integration.

Not so fast on the same page thing. I am however in agreement that he earned another year, but I feel like our football program will pay for it deeply in the long run. ark fumbled on their goal line and mullens dumbest call ever risking no points in ot vs ole miss (even though it made him look like a genius) aint enough for this guy to give him the key to the city.

I stand corrected. To make it more of a jab, it did seem like you guys played in Shreveport a lot for a couple years.

Whatever happened to that coach that was at all of those bowls. I'm sure his predecessor was awesome.

Two years was the difference between being the 3rd team in the SEC to integrate and being the last team in the SEC to integrate.
