of the potential of our football program. Think about it. We sold 40k season tickets, coming off a 4-8 season and only ONE winning season this entire decade. If we could ever put together a consistent winning team (I'm talking more than 3-4 year runs), the sky is the limit. We could dominate this state for decades. I have always believed that our potential fan base is much larger than Ole Miss'.

can't come without a serious commitment to winning from the leadership on campus. The school president, AD and the fan base must demand it. It would appear that we may have the ingredients in place at long last. It still pains me to think of the wasted years under LT's watch. We won in spite of that idiot during the 90's. I still think that LT played a role in Jackie's demise toward the end of his run. Jackie knew that LT wouldn't have his back during the NCAA witch hunt. When your boss won't stand up for you, it really affects your motivation to continue busting your *** at your job.

Granted other schools may have it a little easier putting a winner on the field than us, but I also think those schools realized the importance of being athletically competitive a long time ago, and also how beneficial to the school/town that is. Nothing should be more important to our university right now than winning football games. If we win football games, money to the school and academics increases. More students begin to recognize and enroll in our university. Gameday condos start popping up in Starkville. More bars/restaurants start opening. EVERYTHING GETS BETTER. I think we finally have the AD and President that understand this and will do anything to make it happen.

and I agree strongly.

A consistent winning tradition along with a progressive mindset across the university and the town could truly change this whole corner of the state..
like has never been done.
When you look back through the history of MSU athletics and see the potential that could of been there.. I will always wonder...

The city, the county, and in the end the whole state...
the last one will never happen though.

Not to mention that no one in their right minds is expecting a winning season this year. That is what amazes me. People are buying these season tickets, knowing they are going to see us lose a good bit, to support Mullen and the team. There is no doubt that if we put a winner together people will support them financially. The question is going to be how many actual butts in the seats versus tickets sold we get after a few losses.

Not only that.. but the Hump will sell out and season ticket sales at Dudy Noble will flow over into the bleachers just like previous years. The fans are there... just give em a reason to show. There are several thousand people that bought tickets this year that were not going to buy them otherwise since the previous administration and coaches did things and made decisions in spite of what the fans thought.
