425+ games and 2 wins would have made all the difference...

Stansbury has been the coach for 425+ games and if he'd just beaten Butler and Xavier his job would be safe. Some games can make or break a career. He didn't win those games and it's proving to be very difficult just to get back to the opportunity those two MSU teams had those days.

I said it yesterday...He could have been to the sweet 16 twice back in the day, but the way the team has been trending the past 5-6 years would still have him on the hot seat.

It wouldn't be as bad, but people would still want him gone. You don't get a 10 year pass with a bid to the sweet 16.

I think another way you have to look at it is, what kind of splash, if any, has MSU made out of conference in Ricky's tenure? Lord knows it took him about 5 seasons before he figured out you can schedule outside of the SWAC and Sun Belt. Here are the only ones that really jump out to me: 2000/1 at Arizona, 2002/3 Xavier at NYC and Oklahoma in New Orleans. 2003/4 Xavier at home (loss in NCAA) at Santa Clara. 2004/5 at Xavier. 2006/7 at Miami, maybe? 2007/8 Mizzou. All in all, that's not a very extensive list that screams greatest coach of all time lets not fire him.

It is not one or two games here or there over the past 10+ years. It is all of the crap we have experienced over those years combined with the most recent failures (past two years). Personally, prior to the loss to Georgia at home this year, I was somewhat on the fence. I kept hoping and praying Stans would work some miracle and make all this work. The Georgia loss was the straw that broke the heavy laden camels back. Since then, Stans has stomped on the broken back camel with the LSU loss, pissed on him with the Auburn loss, and *** raped him with the way we played Kentucky for 30 minutes (proving what this team can do if properly motivated and reasonably coached). The camel is dead and Stans has to go!!!!!</p>
