Burns lost 13 Seniors and only had 3 Juniors on the roster last year. They should take a hit unless they got an influx of transfers this year.

Cramer - loses 9 Seniors but brings back 7 Juniors to a team that beat Central Davidson in the 2nd round and lost to Tuscola in the third. Cramer has some holes to fill but we hear some of the sophomores can play.

Morehead returns 7 starters. Some really good sophomores and juniors. One of the sophomores is getting some big time looks right now. Randleman brought a couple of transfers. Central Davidson has one of the best players in the 2027 class in the state. West Stokes brings back a really good pitcher. Burns even though they lost 13 seniors they are still going to be tough as always. They are well coached.

The pipeline at Burns right now is something else. The kids coming up from JV were 9-3 and the middle school kids will be hell too. They may not be the teams from the last 2 years but come playoff time they could be tough.

We played a group a few years in a row. UCLA (Upper Cleveland Lawndale Area, I believe) Cubs. I believe a decent amount of that group would be sophomores now but they were a good squad with solid pitching. I’m not sure how many of those guys cycled through Burns, or other areas.

Totally agree with Burns always being in the hunt. Great culture and coaching.

Last year they had two reclass guys on top of the special senior class. Tough was an understatement.

Burns get any transfers this year?

The new classification system is going to be different. Beefing up your non-conference schedule is going to help come playoff time since its all based RPI. And getting a 1st round bye can play huge dividends to some teams who may have 1-2 pitchers. You get that bye and it sets you up for success in the later rounds of playoffs.

In the Southern Piedmont I would group the tiers as following:

Tier 1: Burns, Cherryville, Stuart Cramer
Tier 2: West Lincoln, East Gaston
Tier 3: Highland, Lincolnton, Shelby, Bessemer

This is based off last year or two results and who is coming back(not counting for any transfers that may have happened). Highland and BC obviously have limited options with numbers etc. I am surprised Shelby and Lincolnton doesn't field a better team every year. Do they transfer to other "baseball schools?" How is West Lincoln? I know they had a talented group coming through recently.

Morehead finds some good consistent pitching and they can make some noise. Pretty solid junior class

Cherryville is probably the favorite in the Southern Piedmont this year. They have 2 stud pitchers that are going to be juniors this year (as far as I know they are still at Cherryville anyways). As for Burns it wouldn't surprise me if they start a little slow, will be young and have a pretty decent schedule especially the 1st month. They'll be around in late May though I suspect just might take a couple weeks weeks to figure it out.

How many of the seniors at Burns played quality innings? What underclassmen played quality innings? I love legion ball and saw Post 82 play several games late in the season and they had several Burns players that played well. Dixon, Davis, Yarboro, and Camp all were big components for Post 82. They should help in big ways at Burns. If Yarboro and Camp can throw like the did for post 82 they’ll be tough to hit. Davis and Dixon both are tough outs at the plate. Davis is a menace on the base paths and hits it very well. Not sure what else they have but from what we saw during legion ball last year burns will be strong.

Excited to see the sophomore and junior group this year. Rock and McMichael will be solid as well in conference. It should come down to those 3. As far as playoffs all 3 should make it since they are all different classifications. Pitching should be pretty good and offensively they will have plenty of fire power!!!

I didn't get to go to any of the legion games last year so I'm not sure about who all played or anything, I do know Burns had quite a few on that team though.

Andrew Yarboro pitched really well in limited opportunities for Burns last year. He looked really good when he did pitch. Drew Dixon will be pitching this year and will be one of the main offensive threats. Max Davis is just Max Davis, that kid is good at everything he plays. Another name to watch this year for Burns will be Yates Toney. He started as a freshman last year and I'd expect he'll be a big part of this years roster.

Burns, while extremely good the last 4-5 years.....won't be AS good but still good. Good coaching and commitment to baseball. Think Crest/Shelby in football setup.....Burns has in baseball. They're a whole lot better in baseball than football.

Yeah but many chicken teams play St. Marys school of blind girls in non conf. play as an annual standard. They won't be deviating from that anytime soon. The habitual offenders' schedules are easy to find. Certain schools do it across the board in all sports.

Shelby and Lincolnton haven't been good at baseball since......I don't know... the 70s? Yes... both programs have baseball people transfer out without question.

In the long run that set up will hurt them. Looking at schedules Morehead loaded it’s non conference up with good teams. In conference it will be a battle between Morehead, Rockingham and McMichael. Morehead also goes to the Myrtle Beach tournament in August.
