5 Reasons Boise St. will beat Va. Tech...

1. Defense- Broncos have veteran players who have only given up 12pts and 17pts per game in the last two years. They play smart and tackle well. Defense won their two big games last year (Oregon and TCU)

2.Peterson- best coach this side of Nick Saban. Fundementally the best team in the country (not athletically tho) and they don't make mistakes.

3. QB- Kellen Moore had almost a 70% completion rate, 25TDs, 10 Ints. He's a winner and he manages the game well.

4. Game management- Boise is going to be in every game they play. They'll slow it down if they have to. When they're outmatched, they take their time and don't panic. In a close game, if they get the ball- they'll win.

5. Frank Beamer's teams don't seem to do well in the early season- he'll lose 1 or 2 and then be in a BSC bowl. He's a great coach, but they just don't seem ready the first game almost every year.

Btw- I think Oregon St. may beat Boise this year but if Boise goes undefeated I think they deserve a shot at the title. Peterson is 49-4, and if they go undefeated that's 62-4.... I think a program like that deserves a shot.

1. Boise's strength is not in their defense at all. They gave up over 20 points 6 times last year including over 30 points 3 times and all of these situations were against WAC teams.

2. I'll take the sweater vest, both Kellys, Urb, Stoops, and Brown over someone who has dominated one of the weakest conferences in NCAA football. Most of Boise's hype is still based off of their win against Oklahoma several years ago. Yes they beat TCU in their bowl last year, but they've also played TCU in their bowl the last 3 years now and had lost the previous two meetings.

3. Where is this stat from 2008? He was closer to 65 last year overall. Still, I do agree that he's a good qb.

4 & 5. Let's talk game management and Frank Beamer: Virginia Tech has never really impressed anybody offensively while Beamer's been there. He's made a living off of being a good game manager and keeping his team out of trouble, playing the possession game, and grinding it out. As for not being ready in their first game sure they were upset 2 years ago by east carolina in their first game off of a late blocked punt, but last year they lost to Bama in their first game, and the other early season game they lost in 2007 was to LSU. Those are both national champions and I don't think they deserve a "not ready for first game" tag simply because they lost to the best team in the country.

Who, as someone pointed out, just has to NOT screw the pooch this year and will be in their 3rd title game in 5 years?

No blue turf.

This is an away game for Boise. They beat Oregon AT HOME last year and are essentially still riding the OU win a couple of years back. That and the Oregon game last year. Boise is good, but they are not going ON THE ROAD and beating Va Tech in front of 70,000 Va Tech fans. Just ain't happening.

The WAC is terrible. Thanks Crooms for LA Tech.

Boise has 2 games to be concerned about VA Tech and Oregon State... OSU is in Boise.

That being said, I hate how Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame always gets pub and a shot at title. If ND is bowl eligible, they are always mentioned in the the BCS games lineup.
