Baseball is around the corner. What teams will be on the rise. When we think about 5A baseball have to think about East Rowan. They usually a power team. They will have a good left handed pitcher back from last year.

I saw North Davidson play Tuscola last year. Several fans of theirs that I talked to felt they had come together one year earlier than planned. If everyone returns like anticipated, I’d expect them in the mix. MIF Beck is a high-level stud in the field or at the plate.
Going to be a lot of good baseball teams this year. A lot of pitching all over the west for sure.... esp. at 5a level.
Looking forward to baseball in the Big South. NOGA should make it interesting. Pitching will be strong.
Soon baseball will be going on. One team I follow throughout the season is East Rowan. According to their schedule they will take on North Davidson on 2/25 @ 7pm.
Who knows how sharp everyone is on Day 1 but that ER/ N. Davidson looks like about as good of an opening day game as you can get with what both teams should have this year.
Rockingham County will be pretty good. 3 really good arms!!! They do lose some firepower in the lineup but they should get by with what they have. They are also in a better conference this year. Breaking in a new coach though so will have to how he does the first few weeks.
Have to think TCR as usual will have a big say in things. I think they are now 6A? Won't they be going after their 4th straight state title this year?
TCR lost a lot of high end talent and their two strongest arms from last year but like most years they have good talent coming up and some juniors that contributed a lot as sophomores. They will be good, just not sure how good, but with the new 8 classifications, I expect they’ll be in at least a regional threat most years.
AC Reynolds will be young this year but they have a squad of baseball players that will roll though over the next 3-4 years. They should be more than solid every year until that talent cycles. They’ll give TCR a run for the money over the next couple of years in Buncombe County.

Pisgah was supposed to have scrimmaged TCR today and I would have known a little more them but school is remote learning due to roads and it’s supposed to be 16 degrees at game time so I doubt that this one happens but we’ll see.

Yeah, baseball at the college and high school level starts too early and the weather can really wreak havoc. But I guess they don't have any choice. Even at the high school level, the state finals don't wrap up until early June. So really no way they can push the start of the season deeper into the calendar. Won first one against a good club. Always a chance in baseball!! ER is a senior heavy team... they always produce solid teams. KM did beat them earlier but who knows if all the players were available???? Coach Wise will have them ready.

Yeah, I talked to friend about the Tuscola game because I thought it was odd too and he said Tuscola had one productive area in their lineup where they had almost all their hits and runs and then everywhere else everyone had multiple strikeouts. I believe Tuscola had 18 strikeouts, 9 hits, and 4 walks on the day if I remember what he said correctly. Most of those 9 hits came from 3-4 batters so they scored well from them.

3/11 - SP Vs Burns. Weather getting better...ready to see how we stack up. Great game between 2 mehhs. Bats FINALY came alive to catch up with solid pitching.
