We should go to a bowl. That's a step up for sure but we've beat really bad teams that have a history of being better. This season will make a lot of fans happy but it's not nearly as good as some think it is. Georgia is as bad as they'll ever be and they beat us at home when our fans supported this team like never before. The improvement is there but 6-6 this year is average at best.

Mississippi State just beat Texas A&M; didn't beat us. South Carolina beat UT; didn't beat us. Vandy beat Georgia; didn't beat us. We haven't beaten any playoff contenders but every single win, outside of NMSU and maybe Mizzou, is a legit win.

I disagree. When we beat the teams we beat they were playing terrible. I acknowledge that 6-6 will be better than I expected after Southern Miss beat us but we're still UK and we had a chance to do something pretty special and failed again.

Some of you people are amazing...
1. We were on the ropes of a terrible season early on, Stoops was on major hot seat, Mitch had us in a crazy buyout and the result of all of these things would have been a disaster recruiting class of de-commits and no way kids in 2017 will commit to UK early.
2. At least...we can get to a bowl game, show progress and continue to recruit...which is the main thing we need to do.
3. We also bring back the entire team next year with the exception of Toth, Timmons, Miggins, McClain and McWilson...maybe Boom. Tons of build on for a bigger year in 2017.

It is a process at UK...some of you quit needing to be unrealistic tantrum throwing children when things don't go our way.

All I am reading here is that the SEC east is not good. Yes, Miss St. beat a team who lost their starter in the first. We also beat a Vandy team that shocked UGA. But, in all honesty, what are those wins? If UL had those wins we would be mocking them for not playing anybody (which outside of Clemson I am not sure they have). Let's get real, in year 4, we should beat a few bad teams who have first year HC's and a Miss. St. team replacing 3/4 of it's roster.

Based on what? Our overwhelming past success or our superior roster?

When things don't go our way ? Seriously ? Things have never gone our way. Tennessee and UL will kick the sh*t out of us and then we'all go to the Mickey Mouse Bowl and some of our fans will be ecstatic. If you're good with that I respect your opinion but in reality we're still a bad team having an average season.

We can't get over .500 in the regular season. It stinks. We will lose the next 2 out of 3 games. This was our best chance and once again we can't get it done. No hating. Just the trust.

So, you're saying we've overachieved? We're better than we should be? Or is bad the average?

1. Going to a lower tier bowl game isn't the height of the program under Stoops....it just may be where we end up this year.
2. This "bad" UK team...beat a Miss St than handled #4 Texas AM and USC has shown some life this year as well and will probably make a bowl game. And UK hammered Mizzou last week. UK isn't a bad team by any stretch.
3. Next year could be a pretty good year considering all we lose is 1 starter on offense, 2 on defense...maybe Boom if he goes NFL.
4. Also consider we are doing this with a backup JUCO QB after what looked to be a 2 win season early on.

I'm disappointed we didn't win as well...but it's a step for UK program and it isn't about low expectations. It's about realistic expectation given where we're at in SEC football recruiting, what Stoops inherited from Joker.

If we end up with 6 wins and in a bowl that will be ahead of where 75% of sports writers had us at beginning of year.

Question for you - Is having more wins than 75% sports writers predicted a good season or a bad season?

I'm a drunk idiot, but I can keep this loss in perspective. It was disappointing, comparable to the Auburn loss last year (a close loss against a real SEC power in a down year, and a game we should have won), but at least this year, we're still going to a bowl, and still 500 at worst in the SEC. And we're returning almost everyone next year. It's disappointing, but we'll get past it. We were basically playing with house money anyway.

That's a great question. I guess 'exceeds expectations' is always a good place to be.

Based on the notion that we are progressing as a team. Based on the notion that Stoops as HC was turning a corner. Based on the notion that, yes, we lined up with equal level players to any team not named UF or Bama on our schedule. We have the horses and our staff has done well without the starting QB but to not question some of the decisions made tonight is pure blind optimism. We should have handled UGA. They gave up the ball several times, have a QB who couldn't hit a target but once (unless it's the final drive for a winning FG and we give his WR's 10+ yards cushion) and a dominant O-Line/RB combo that should control tempo. \

What do we do? We let them win a game we should have controlled. We never mixed in a pass when appropriate (not all Gran's fault but he should have seen the pick as an opportunity not a flaw). We never corralled their backs and we never took control of this game until it was over.

Oh hell no we haven't overachieved. We beat bad teams and some people thought we turned the corner. Absolutely not.

You don't think we have? Our defense certainly looks a heckuva lot better than it did at the beginning of the season. I guarantee you that if we played FL again that we wouldn't lose by 40. Despite the 'bad' teams, we've improved.

There's a difference between "turned the corner" and "step in right direction."

We haven't turned a corner but the season DEFINITELY is a step in he right direction. That holds true if we lose to UT and UL, which will be picked to beat us.

Find me one post tonight of someone who is thrilled. I am freaking depressed but I don't want the staff fired or flogged. Since the god-awful first two weeks we have competed.

We have managed to win games with a QB who is doing his jobs but is not a big threat. I think we look more competitive and better coached and I am happy about that.

But the comparison there is simply "players wildly out of position" compared to "bend but sometimes break". Our final defensive effort was abysmal. We gave them 8+ yards to pass the ball each down with 3+ minutes and only needing a field goal. Who's choice was that? And, the answer to that question is the answer to our HC question. If Eliot is calling the plays, can him yesterday. If it's Stoops alone, why are we paying Eliot to lose?

If you're happy that's all that should matter. You're a UK fan and if you feel good about the season then keep the faith. Hopefully things will keep getting better and we'll see the football team have some great seasons in the future.

From 5-3 to potentially 6-7. Man that sucks if that happens. We can get to a bowl game but still have a late season collapse as usual. This season will be a major disappointment if it ends up that way. I am still hoping for an upset of Tennessee and Louisville and finishing 9-4 after the bowl, but not going to hold my breath.

6-6 and a bowl game was by far the largest prediction preseason.

We lost a starting QB, a couple starters on defense before the season, started off horribly.

We are playing solid ball with a backup QB.

Yes the SEC sucks bad, but we have beaten all the bad SEC teams we were supposed to beat and had UGA.

Absolutely no reason to whine and cry about this game or how the season unfolded.

If you expected 8 or 9 regular season games this year than that is more on you than reality.
