We were probably coming until I saw the weather reports. It was going to the game or doing a 2 day snapper trip but I can't justify driving 4 hours to sit in the rain as much as I'd like to see us play. I do like our chances in the rain, mettenberger and the wr's have me nervous.

It flooded the 36 hours before Troy game, but was gone by the time kickoff. Ground was dry enough to soak it all up. Turned into a nice day.

Itll br br skmethkng to keep an eye on I guess.

The new playing surface at Davis Wade can absorb a crazy, crazy amount of rain and not go to mush. It was designed to accomodate several inches an hour without losing integrity of the playing surface. It's basically all sand and french drains now.

Bottom line, I doubt we ever see it get "wet" with the field conditions going to crap again. There's a pic out there somewhere showing all the drains as well...

In '09, we got 2 early touchdowns while it was raining

Really dude? You live in South Mississippi and a 60% chance of rain 5 days out is scaring you?

And from Oak Grove it's a 3 hour drive... not 4.

Have you checked the fishing weather reports? My friend was trying to decide between game and fishing trip and said he was more than likely going to the game.

Well, bozo, getting from my house and driving the limit it's closer to 4 hours than 3. And nowhere did I say that I was scared of the rain, I clearly stated I'd rather go snapper fishing than drive to Starkville to sit in the rain, if it does indeed rain.

This morning when I checked it was anywhere from 2-4s but it's been changing every day. We're camping and the plan is going Saturday-Monday if the weather is right. Hopefully I can get in a trip this weekend and go to the game next weekend but if we can't then we're going to go out next weekend.

'09 sounds about right. That was the day MSU decided to stop letting people park on the grass if there was rain ... cars tore up a lot of sod that day.

I thought it stopped raining before the game started though ... maybe not. But I remember walking from the parking lot in a downpour.

Yeah, it was a crazy *** thunderstorm before the game and flooded. I sought refuge among the packaged cheese goods.

You might want to rethink that, we may be boarding our house up before heading to Starkville. http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2013/invest-97L?map=model, so we had a shut down in 95 and where did opal form again?

I guarantee it takes more than 4 hours from the Coast in game day traffic--especially if it's raining. Besides, they've extended the snapper season 21 days starting TODAY--after practically cutting it in half in the early summer. It's rare we get to fish for snapper in October. I don't blame Uncle--I know I'm fishing. I'm thinking about making the trip to Texas for the ATM game to make up for it. Besides that keeps me from having to go to the bears/arky game with my wife...

Maybe you can clarify the season days for me, isn't it 14 day state waters then 7 additional days for federal? I'm going out of town for work after the first 14 days so it's my only chance. Hoping the cooler water brings the AJs in a little closer so we can catch a few of them.

It thought it was the other way around--Federal extended 14 days and state extended 7 more. However, I was going to fish in Florida, and now I'm not sure Mississippi extended past the federal. http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20130915/SPORTS08/309150042/Anglers-applaud-snapper-extension

I'm worried the rain may keep the AJs from coming in off the Mississippi coast by dropping the salt level too much. I was going to try to go out past the barrier islands or in Florida, also because the ones inside have been wormy (not that you can't dig them out...)

Have you tried Chandeleur Island recently? I heard the feds have again banned camping on the islands.

Heard that too. I only got to go out past the islands twice this year, once to some wrecks and rigs past horn and once on some wrecks past dolphin. Mostly been going for trout and reds are cat and in la waters. Caught some good cobia on one of the trips though. Haven't caught an AJ in a several years. I've about forgot what it's like to fight one.
