615, how about an update. Are we in with a win over Vandy?

Edited to add....

I have a bad feeling we have to win the whole thing. Slive's interview, coupled with removing the emphasis on the way teams finish a season, coupled with our bad RPI, and I think we're in trouble. Remember, last year, we all thought we were on the bubble, only to get a 13 seed after winning the tourney. We weren't near a bubble going into that championship game. I am afraid that's the case this year.

I'll be pulling for the Vols to get to the championship game. I think we have a better shot against them, should we survive Vandy.

and actually got burned by San Diego State and Illinois winning unexpectedly. We are in the conversation with a win tomorrow, but its looking like we are going to have to win the thing.

we actually have 2 common opponents.

We lost to Richmond by 1 and RI lost by 2, but the interesting one was St. Bonaventure. RI lost to the Bonnies by 7. We beat them by 53.

If we beat Vandy we might not make the tourney, but we better make it over them.

it looks like there are legitimately 4 spots and 5 teams still in the hunt for them. Washington, Illinois, MN, MSU, and Rhode Island. I think they are going to give MN and Illinois spots, even though Illinois should be a 5 seed in the NIT. I think our best chance is forRhode Islandto lose and us win today. Then we may have a shot at taking their spot. Washington losing may or maynot matter at this point.

are there anymore spots up for grabs that might get taken by an upset?

I'm no 615dawg but from tracking his posts this week I think this is what we should be looking for.
Purdue to get MN out
Duke - not sure if Miami is a lock but we know Duke is so might as well drop Miami out
Ohio St - Illinois is probably in but a win guarantees they are
Temple - URI probably got in last night but a win here makes it a sure thing
UTEP - they need to win their tourney or they will take an at large bid away
Ga Tech- can't afford NCSt to steal a spot by winning the tourney
Cal - Wash needs to lose to give us a shot
San Diego St - SDST has a better shot at an at large so might as well concede that spot and root for them to take the tourney. UNLV needs to win it all to get in.
Utah st - not sure their chances at an at large but if they win tourney we won't have to worry about that

of course I dont think any of this matters with an MSU loss.

But you can bet the house that either MSU or UM will probably host Jackson St. I know the NIT matchups are based on seeds now, but they have a history of tweaking the seeds to get the matchups they want sometimes.
