I know Clinton can win this game, but I don't see east duplin losing until we, or possibly Princeton come to town in the eastern finals. It's that time of year when turnovers predominantly decide outcome. East Duplin seems to come out ahead in that department usually. I will be going with my dogs if we're fortunate enough to make that trip in two weeks. Ed by 10 this week

I don’t know what year it was that ED lost to Hibriten in the championship but what I didn’t understand in that game was with about 2 min left in 1st half ED had the lead and the ball at approx midfield 4th and 7. ED went for it and didn’t get close. To converting. Hibreten took over. Went in the 2 min offense and scored in about 3-4 plays scored to take the lead at the half. That was the final score because the 2nd half was scoreless. Why with the lead didn’t ED punt to put Hiberen in the hole before the half. I think if they had punted and put Hibreten in bad field position they would not have scored again and ED wins SC. Just my observation and recollection.
Coaches have to make big decisions at many points during a game and will be second guessed by everyone, usually only if they do not work.

ED was trailing 9-7 when they failed on the 4th down play you mention. Hibriten did score with 1:20 left in the first half to go up 16-7. ED scored with around 1:00 left in the game to make the final 16-14.

That was right call, player ran the wrong play. He just sneaks it, we win. Hole was big enough to drive a truck thru. Then after the game this player walks into locker room and casually says, well there is always basketball season and proceeds to about get his *** kicked. Then he got in a fight with another player at school the following week over that play/comment.
Last time I saw him they still give him hell about that play. The whole barbershop was roasting him

Our coaching staff is one of the best collective groups top to bottom in the state. Always prepared, love their kids, work hard everyday. They are helping the kids get an education post graduation, and for some scholarships and more competition on the playing field. The only pressure they have on them is the pressure they apply to themselves to be great. As far as from fans, and administration goes, we love our coaches win or lose.
I agree, Hertford County will win. It just so happened that I talked with one of the Holmes coaches Saturday. He spoke highly of the coaches at Whiteville and said that they are very good and some of the best they’ve coached against. He told me that I shouldn’t waste my time going to the game. He also said that just like HC, Whiteville defense is bad as well. They won’t be able to stop Rodgers and HC will move on. Like I stated my source came straight from the top and was on the sidelines Friday night. Good luck to the Darkhorses, you know I’m pulling for you

I'd like some get back this year. Very rarely will I pull for ed, but the game is like no other in our area imo. Like I said, I want the chance to get even. Maybe this time we kick that fg
They would have won had they punted with the lead tight before half. No one scored in the 2nd half. Why they didn’t punt I do t know maybe it’s because if what my NCSU fans say about not kicking field goals and going fior it They say it’s analytics; I don’t think antibody knew what the word meant bCk in 1986!

I guess you are correct. Seems as if he gets mad at you and some of the other Darkhorse followers on here if there is a difference of opinion. What do I know, Im just a regular ole Joe that just follows the game and has an opinion. Dont need a hat with my message board nickname on it like some have to show my knowledge.

This is just my point if view. Clinton is loaded with speed and has decent size. Other than WRH and St Pauls the Horses have not had a real test.
East Duplin like Clinton has speed and talent all over the field. They have an advantage of playing more competitive teams this year.
This is another installment of East Duplin and Clinton in the playoffs and I do not believe it will disappoint. The talent is as equal as it can get in a match up. The game will come down to which team takes advantage of opportunities that are presented. It has the potential to be a shootout or a punt fest.
Clinton can not afford to throw deep with Hall roaming the deep portion of the field. The Clinton offense will most likely stick to the mixture of run schemes and short passes. The Horses need big games from McLaurin, Robinson, Arnette, Pearson, and Blackwell on offense. Ball security, time of possession and limited 3 and outs will tell a lot of the story for the Horses.
East Duplin has to mix in some more passing to keep the Horses Defense from loading the box with 7 or 8. The Panthers run at 70% of plays this year. That is all the reason the Horses coaching staff will need to play man on the receivers and use just one safety until the Panthers force them to go to take a LB off the field and put the second safety back in.
From a coaching stand point for East Duplin I would be weary of running to ball to what ever side DE Amaris Williams is lined up on. He is the best defender for Clinton on the DL. I would also pay attention to where Landen Pearson is at LB. In passing situations both starting CBs for Clinton are good. East Duplin will need to run double move short routes to be successful. I would schedule the play calls to where Clinton can not have any presnap hint if the run game is inside or outside. On defense East Duplin's staff will be wise to focus on staying with wide splits between defensive linemen to counter the outside run game of Clinton. Bring a safety down for run support and keep the WLB and SLB wide as well. Force Clinton to play a more physical run game.
On the Clinton side I would take Amaris Williams and move him around between DE and OLB to keep the Panthers guessing. Clinton as a team tackles well at the first two levels. Avery Gaby and Kade Kennedy are both hard nose runners and I would try to make East Duplin keep one on the side line as much as possible. I would want to have a goal of holding the Panthers under 250 yards rushing. On offense I would want to go out of character and use Amaris Williams and Tairik Dyches to run between the tackles a little more and use them as lead blockers. Take advantage of the speed backs with jet runs and jet action fakes.
I have seen both teams live and film on both teams. This game will be decided by who makes the fewest small mistakes. East Duplin gets a plus for playing in more competitive games but that is the only edge I can see. This one is close and the Kicking game goes to Clinton.

Ottoman line if they had punted right before the half Hilbrite. Mast nit have scored again, they didn’t the 2nd half. I wasn’t that impressed with them at the time but they got a trophy. I thought it was ED’s for the taking
25 mile head wind and Cumming nearly blocked the previous punt. If we had punted into that win how much field possession would it had been It wiukd have just given Cummings more room to operate. QB sneak was absolutely the right call. Also as I recall Cummings was out of time outs. If we had converted -victory formation
Okay it was 9-7 , same thing if they punted they may have won since Hilbreten failed to score again.IMO ED was a much better team

Sportscribe, if you’re guessing with 34, you may be wrong. I don’t know everything. I know a lot about DarkHorse football. Yes I’m getting old and don’t know a lot of the young people but I know the DarkHorse tradition and I’m confident it’s being followed at this time
