The gaslighting on trans, CRT, Antifa, the border, etc. has been pervasive. It’s rare to find a leftist who will simply have a straightforward discussion or debate about those divisive subjects. If they aren’t gaslighting, they try to shame you for recognizing the problem.
I simply asked the man to explain what he thinks CRT is to me so I can understand why he’s so upset over it.

I asked a sincere question. I was not before aware that there might be a con law challenge to the legislation. I educated myself before you answered and actually deleted my post, because I no longer needed your explanation. You evidently took a while to respond to my post, because it had been deleted for a few minutes before your post.

Education and education related loans are yet another perfect example of why the federal government should be completely out of the education sphere. It's asinine elitist power grab sent quality of education straight downhill with no signs of stopping.
My request for an explanation was also sincere, just in a different way. I am aware of what CRT is which is why I asked what he thought it was so I could understand which part of it got him so angry.
Definitely. We all know they know. They gaslight it does not exist. Then gaslight it’s only relevant to an academic discussion for law schools. Then pretend there has been no application, even when some of them place it right into the mix verbatim. Then, they act like it only happened once, so why you so upset.

Yeah, we know but do you all?!?! We're a number of responses in to this discussion and I haven't seen one explanation on what CRT actually is to you all.
The most basic idea is that CRT is an academic concept, that has been around for decades mind you, that states that race is solely a social construct and that racism is embedded in American legal systems and policies.
(This next part is my personal thoughts now) It has since been co-opted only recently as a means to vilify the teaching of past racial injustice and as a catch-all term to mean any teaching of diversity in our education systems so that people once again view diversity as a negative instead of a positive (and it has worked).
And, I think that is the fiction. I have yet to meet someone who thinks truth should not be taught in schools. And, “diversity” became a bad word in the educational world only when it was used as a rationale and euphemism for discrimination.
The issue is people get upset when the truth is taught in schools though. People get mad when they hear that kids are being taught that the Civil War was mainly about slavery even though that's true. I get that people want to protect their kids from feeling some kind of guilt or whatever but there has to be some kind of understanding that even though it's a dark history, it's still history.
If history is being taught in a way that instills guilt on a kid, it is no longer history.
If the Little Rock Nine can be strong enough to integrate schools then little white kids can be strong enough to simply learn about it.
I agree that it shouldn't be explicitly taught that white kids today should be blamed for the sins of our past but when you're learning that people who looked like you oppressed people who looked like your classmates, there's going to be some underlying tension in that lesson.
Learning history should not make white kids or black kids feel guilty at all. It’s history, not them. People who looked like black children also oppressed and oppress. No child should feel guilt because a bad person also had one head and two feet. No child should feel guilt because a bad person also has a mouth full of teeth. It’s ludicrous to teach history in a way that instills guilt upon a person who was in no way involved with that history.
But we also can't control the emotions of other people especially hormone-filled adolescents. The point of teaching history is to figure out how we got to where we are today, right? By learning about the past, we can better understand how to solve the problems of the present and future.
It's not ridiculous to make some connection to yourself to the people that you learn about from history and that history involves learning that if you lived not even a century ago then your life depending on your skin color would look vastly different. It gives kids a perspective of their lives compared to others.
CRT should be the same as gender studies: No specific courses you take for an entire semester (unless, I guess if you want to, they can be electives).. but more of an hour long seminar that you maybe take once a year, as an effort to reinforce that "trans are human beings" and "Slavery was real". The rest can be dealt with by the parents or as a few chapters in the general history or health studies classes.
This stuff should really be treated like the sexual harassment training you have to do at work: reinforce what most people should know, and how they should conduct themselves, and move on. If an incident occurs, it's handled specifically with the parties involved.
