And this indeed is where it gets scary. You sir are reading the IHSA website incorrectly.
The IHSA is saying that mchenry holds the tiebreaker over 3-3 teams listed below it in what the IHSA is calling 7a teams.
The IHSA is NOT comparing McHenry’s 3-3 status with 27 playoff points to 3-3 teams with 27 playoff points in the OTHER classes.
Yet when determining what 3-3 teams qualify and which don’t, all 3-3 teams will be lumped together regardless of which class they are listed in currently in the IHSA website. Your inability to interpret the IHSA information is identical to what the original poster did. He misinterpreted the IHSA website info just as you are. Sort of scary that you don’t see that but it is what it is

I just find it odd that this thread bothers you so much.

I will tell you that you out more effort into your two rants than I did putting these matchups together. Does that make you feel better?
change your moniker to McHenry dad. Your slip is showing.
Nope. Don’t live there and know nothing about the program. That was my example. What people are not getting is that when I read this stuff I want to get meaningful accurate information.
I want to know that Carmel has just 10?freshmen out fir football which was posted. Then 6 weeks later the varsity coach quits. I want to know that Antioch’s Minnesota’s-committed an is out for the rest of the season with an injury.
I want to know that the reason East St. Louis is not playing up a class this year is because of a conference rule.
That’s good factual information. That’s what this forum needs. On that last point u could have interesting discussion in the league not letting East St. Louis play up a class.
Or the discussion is interesting on the non-boundaried school multiplier... Pros and cons.
That’s good discussion on facts.
And for the record I mean currently in queens New York. Though having to pay city of New York taxes technically a letter sent here is sent to Oakland gardens with its own zip 11364.
Illinois dies not have a similar system I don’t think.

I’m sorry to break this news to you but a message board posted on by everyone from old men with nothing better to do to high school kids trying to stir up attention for their team is probably not the best place to go for meaningful accurate information. (no offense everyone)

Then skip this thread. Pretty simple.
It is possible....wait for it....that OTHER people do like this meaningless information and their opinions are equal to yours.
Radical thought...I know.

Reading some of the replies there are readers who think this is legit information. That’s the harm. I know this was lazy inaccurate work but there are readers who don’t.
One of the things this forum needs is to grow and grow a lot. You can tell by how few schools get information provided on this site on game nights. I would love to see the forum have readers with insight in 200 teams instead of 20.
But you don’t grow a forum by posting misinformation. We, myself included, have to do better.

Just in case this is specifically referencing my initial "Nuubb" question, I assure you, I am smart enough to know NOT to take everything on the internet as fact. Especially when it is a (somewhat) anonymous message board about HS football.

The only thing worse than useless information is useless misinformation.
This qualifies as the latter. The headline of 7a and 8A playoff pairings “if season ended now“ suggests some work was put into this when I am guessing the absolute minimum was.
For just one example, you have McHenry listed as the 32nd seed in 7a which implies you are saying they would make the playoffs if the season ended now.
But, for that to be fact you need to check the McHenry strength of schedule number of 27 against the 15 or so other schools in the state that have the same 27 number in other classes and break it down to the next tiebreaker which is what the IHSA does when separating 5-4 teams into groups of playoff qualifier and non-qualifier. I would say that u didn’t do anything like that. You r saying mchenry is in the playoffs as of now and quite frAnkly nobody knows and nobody cares. They will care in 3 weeks if McHenry wins two more games.
The IHSA isn’t saying which 3-3 teams in the state would qualify for the playoffs if the season ended today. They are saying that in the class they are likely to fall into if the season ended today they are currently ahead of other 3-3 teams in the same enrollment group.
There is no comparison of 3-3 teams in all classes which is how the playoff field is determined. The IHSA is not saying this is how the field would look if the season ended today.
And if it was and we had just a 6-game season then go ahead and break down all the 3-3 teams to determine who in the state is in and who is not. When you have the 256 team field you can then divide it into 8 classes and then in the classes that use a 1-32 bracket you can then honestly have what the playoff bracket in 7a and 8A would look like if the season ended today.
That of course is a ridiculous amount of work for a meaningless exercise.
Which begs the question: what harm is there in presenting the misinformation as it was presented here?

By the way, I m in no way picking on McHenry’s football team. My point is this: U are saying if the playoffs started now that the McHenry Warriors would be in. The IHSA is not saying that but you are. And there might be Warrior fans who read the post or were told about the post and believe it.
All I want is accurate info. Season ends today: all the 6-0 5-1 and 4-2 teams are in and now break down all 3-3 teams to accurately determine which 3-3 teams qualify on the tiebreakers. Then list the 256 qualifiers and divide them by enrollment into 8 classes.
Then in 7a and 8A with 1-32 seeding go ahead and present the legit playoff pairings if the season ended today.
Why anybody would want to do that with a third of the season to go is beyond me. But please don’t present misinformation as fact.
We all have to do better.

Lighten up Francis.

You must be a blast at cocktail parties.

Time to log off, take a nap, go for a walk and realize that no one is betting their house on these potential playoff pairings being accurate. It's purely entertainment at this point.

This will be a cheap knock-off (as if it were from overseas) of Catch-22's famous, and beloved, thread. In no way am I trying to steal his thunder. It just seems as though it is something the people want so I will help out in a small way. I'm too dumb to figure out anything geographically so we will stick with 7A and 8A.

How is NND in 8A? They were in 6A last year.

I still miss Catch-22 but this works for me! Great stuff. But what about McHenry?

Interesting how most of us Edgymites band and unite together when a new knucklehead comes on here acting like, well...a knucklehead. I’ve been there. Either this person will learn that there are certain rules of decorum on this board. Earn your stripes after the whip marks have healed. Or, just be civil and enjoy the show!

@goomsback lives in Yonkers now if my memory is correct, perhaps he can head over to Queens and get things settled down a bit!

Hey buddy I’ve been around, how’s you been? and is your son still playing this year? I remember liking his tape last year.

Doing well. My son graduated last year and he was the youngest. Both are now in college and neither is playing football anymore. They are now majoring in asking me for more money and hiding their hangovers during my Sunday phone calls. Thanks for the compliment.

Not to drive the knife in and twist MM, but I've been a longtime lurker and been to quite a few games at St. Charles East. Let me just say the catch I saw RM make, on the far sideline endzone against Beast in the playoffs- if memory serves correct, was as good a catch as I've seen in a high school game, especially in a meaningful moment. I can attest Jwar, it was even more impressive in person!

Thanks man. Much appreciated. Wish the end result of that game was different. I still watch this silly highlight to re-live it.
