I am sure he is a good man, but why are keeping Stansbury around, again? Folks, Ray has had nothing to do with this. It is official that Stansbury completely destroyed this program, and we are keeping him around and on the payroll.<div>

I still say that decision alone was the turning point in the program. If he had thought it through and kicked RSS off of the team, he would likely still be coaching and I think we would have gone to the dance this past season. The focus of the team would have been heavily on Moultrie, Hood, and Bost with better development for the guys coming off the bench. We would have been thinner with our bigs by not having RSS on the team but I think we still would have been better for it. He was a liability on the floor even though he improved up to almost mediocre this season.

I will post a rebuttal... more of a defense for the situation... It was completely understandable that he cut Bailey over Sidney, unfortunately...

I think Stans was in a catch-22 with Sidney... In the Fall of 2010, this entire board, the fans, the players, everyone spent a year and a half waiting for him to become eligible to play, especially after the cluster 17 of an investigation that went into his eligibility. He proclaimed to be "The Difference.". All that aside, we invested over a year's worth of time, resources, and scholarship money to get him in an MSU uniform. In Stansbury's eyes, particularly at the time, Sidney had only been playing a few weeks (the exhibition game in Jackson was just before Christmas, the fight was during Christmas). Bailey was far more expendable than Sidney. There would be no way Stans could have justified cutting Sidney from the team over Bailey, but hindsight tells us that would have been the best decision.

You bring up a great point, though...

That was the beginning of the problem and the fight was the turning point. With thost comments about his greatness, it was almost like Rick was trying to convince himself that the guy was worth so much trouble. Then we finally get him on the floor, weighing 75 lbs more than he had weighed when he stepped on campus, and the fight happens.Hell, he could have suspended them both for the next 10 games to show he was serious but instead he booted Bailey and made it clear to anyone else on the team that RSS was bigger than the program. There was no turning back thereafter.
