I was actually at that game. The famous Wes Shivers game. Anyway, if I remember correctly, we scored first in the first quarter to go up 7-0. Then we proceeded to do basically nothing for the next 3 quarters. MSU wasn't a whole lot better, though it felt like you were dominating the game from my perspective. However, we kept didn't let it get further away than 14-7 and ended up finally putting together a drive to win it.
And of course the reverse happened in 1999. We were up 20-6, and it felt like we were dominating the whole game. Then you put together a couple plays late to tie it, and we tried to put together a drive with just over a minute to go leading to the INT which led to the FG.
I was with a group that night watching on TV, and we had a girl with us that was a couple years younger than me. She thought it would be funny to cheer against my team just to give me a hard time. She had no connection to MSU, and she also had no clue how important college football is to SEC fans. We're not friends anymore.
