One of the most frustrating egg bowls ever - Patridge's 2 point conversion at the end. Looking at our players on defense...we should have had 'em. And we did most of the game. Our offense sucked.

My how times have changed. (snicker)

Only time I've ever actually gotten in a fight after a sporting event.
Helpful hint: if you're going to almost run people over and throw trash at them, you better hope your car doesn't get stuck in traffic two blocks away.

think that MSU fans want to watch that? It's not like there are a lot of Rob Morgan fans on here.

I ask because I see people mention this all the time whenever the replay is shown, and it's always MSU people. It's not like it's some Ole Miss fan trying to be an ***.

Do they mention when the Ole Miss/Valpo replay is shown on NAFOOM?

I have never understood this either. Why in the bloody hell would I want to watch that train wreck aGAIN?

Did anybody else go to the Aerosmith concert in Tupelo the night before that game?

seriously, was there and after the game we were allowed on the field to celebrate with the team. Jackie should have never tried that 53 yard field goal, I think had he punted, we probably would have had too far to go. I am sure I feel the same way about the 1999 game as you do this one.

JJ was running well but then hurt his hand and came out. Our drive bogged down and we tried a 50+ FG. Stupid. I watched that game on TV at a relative's house in Missouri. I have rarely been as depressed as a I was after that game. It's much harder to lose like that than 45-0. I knew the game was over from the first rebel TD in 2008 and also knew Croom was gone.

Except I can't ever remember winning a thriller in Oxford.

because if I remember corectly, Ole Miss had a hold called on them that put them at least a little farther back.

Plus, sometimes you can just see a trainwreck about to happen.

Yeah, I don't remember a thriller in Oxford. However, winning the SECW on their turf was revenge enough for me. Much better than a 1pt win to secure a spot in the Motor City Bowl for sure.

That was a fun night in Oxford.

I was actually at that game. The famous Wes Shivers game. Anyway, if I remember correctly, we scored first in the first quarter to go up 7-0. Then we proceeded to do basically nothing for the next 3 quarters. MSU wasn't a whole lot better, though it felt like you were dominating the game from my perspective. However, we kept didn't let it get further away than 14-7 and ended up finally putting together a drive to win it.

And of course the reverse happened in 1999. We were up 20-6, and it felt like we were dominating the whole game. Then you put together a couple plays late to tie it, and we tried to put together a drive with just over a minute to go leading to the INT which led to the FG.

I was with a group that night watching on TV, and we had a girl with us that was a couple years younger than me. She thought it would be funny to cheer against my team just to give me a hard time. She had no connection to MSU, and she also had no clue how important college football is to SEC fans. We're not friends anymore.

For some reason both ESPN and JP broadcast it, so it gets rerun on ESPN Classic and on Sportsouth. Outside of the rivalry, it is a fascinating game to watch with the contrast in style of the teams and the ebb and flow of the game. Add in the ending and the intense rivalry and it goes up to 11. But I have never rewatched the '99 game, which was also a great game from a neural standpoint, so I wouldn't expect State fans to want to watch this one.

It's really got nothing to do with that. She just grated at my nerves constantly. I've got plenty of friends who are MSU fans and LSU fans.
