about Whitney throwing 148 pitches. First, the rebels can't wait to use this in recruiting (and their coach is bianco). Anyway, throwing 148 pitches usually isn't a problem unless the pitcher comes back and throws three days later. Now, their effectiveness will certainly suffer b/c they will be very tired, but as long as their arm is healthy and they get plenty of rest afterward, they should be fine. If Whitney pitches on tuesday, there is something to be concerned about. These message boards are full of people who have never taken karate, but will tell a ninja how to kill someone. Amazing.

As a cubs fan I remember Kerry Wood and Mark Prior throwing that many pitches in a game once or twice.

First you have named 2 pitchers out of thousands. And second how are those guys doing these days? Any arm trouble?

Come on, you can't be taking Dusty Baker's side on this, can you? I don't think either of them ever sniffed 150 pitches, but I wouldn't put it past the Dustbag. Yeah, we rode them to the playoffs in 2003, but that playoff run cost them their careers as starters. Wood, 5 years later, finally found a groove as a closer, and Prior hasn't pitched in a game in 3 years.

Antonio Alfonseca doesn't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times those two have been on the DL.

Bad example.

Do you know how seriously most major league clubs treat pitch counts with their prospects? Do they need a 'baseball lesson' too? Even if you're right, they disagree and they're the ones who decide how much bonus money to pay their draftees.
