Agree. We console ourselves with bball but nobody besides kansas or duke/unc fans give a **** about bball. Meanwhile we a laughing stock in the americas favorite sport
doesn't UL have the same number of BB titles since 2000 (that's 16 years folks) AND this monster diff in football performance too?
Fear not sheeple...it's almost midnight madness time and all will be forgotten except the only thing that matters and of which the top brass will not tolerate losses in...basketball.

Of course a basketball championship won't make up for this. The two are different entities.
Being great in football is more important than being great in basketball, period. Said it many times and continually get blasted by the sheep who can't see the forest for the trees.
UL won the title in BB a couple of years ago. I've never understood why you guys think their is a choice of having a good BB program or a good FB program. Clearly you can have both as demonstrated several times over the years like Florida who won the title 2 years in a row in BB and did well I recall with Meyer as coach in FB

Not at UK it isn't. Sorry, you should realize what school you are a fan of. The bigtime boosters love basketball because they are actually good at it and win a lot of games.
Plus football makes money due to the big SEC deals anyways, so whether UK goes 7-5 or 5-7 or 2-10...gonna make the $$$.
College football is my favorite sport. Can watch game after game. I rarely watch college basketball except for watching all the UK games. I cannot wait for UK's next NC. I don't have to sacrifice my love for UK basketball for my love of UK football. I get both!

Those of us who want to win (a sizable majority, BTW) wanted Petrino; we're also very proud of Cal and the magnificent job he's done here. They're both just men, with plenty of faults, but each is among the top 5 coaches in his respective sport.
The rest? They confuse college coaching searches with the canonization process. Unfortunately, so does our moron AD, unless he's hoodwinked by a good ol' boy from Texas.
The only one's that have a problem with hiring Bob Petrino were the Big Blue Basketball fans, don't want the slime, morally corrupt etc.. I would say our BB coach would get less favorable Q ratings that even Bob Petrino, corrupt and sleazy, vacated FF's, slick, arrogant but this is ok to UK BB fans who think Cal is now someway the greatest human being since Mother Teresa, I love Cal and not getting on him or piling on. The national refrain regarding Cal is not great unless you root for them.

Way too many UL closet fans on this board. I bet a number of you were cheering UL on the last time they won the NC in BB.
Go debate the coming basketball season on Rafters. We're in the middle of a tie game against a scrub opponent and y'all are arguing with a Clemson troll about the merits of the basketball team, and then complain when Gary and Verne make fun of our fans on CBS. Wake the +×÷! Up.
I'm just stating the facts. You can keep living in fantasy land pretending. I'm part of the reality. Football is never going to be bigger at UK. It can equal it, but that obviously is never going to happen with Mitch and Stoops here. We need a real AD and a real coach to do that.
It's only a reality because fans such as yourself are content to accept it as the norm, hence why I say you're part of the problem. Do you see the same large scale fire and venom for Stoops that you saw for Gillispie...who actually won games?
So you would give up the status of being one of the top 5 blueblood programs, the ALL-TIME winningest program, and SECOND in national championships for football? How long do you think it would take to get that status in football?
Probably a hundred years if all the resources and attn were given to football like it was basketball.
No reason you can't be good at both. You just have to be equally committed to both as an administration.
