A couple of new baseball facilities...

That is a good looking facility. I would say, of the SEC parks I have seen (which is only 5) Baum (Arkansas) and now USC are the nicest.

I am not dissing Dudy Noble. However, any State fan that believes we have a facilities advantage in baseball is kidding themselves.

I guess that answers our estimated capacity. It says 12,000.

I was thinking it would be in the 10,000 range with the expanded outfield seating and the expanded chairbacks. We'll see what kind of attendances we have if we blow it out once or twice, to see if it actually can hold that many.

they did a really good job, except that the dugouts aren't "dug out". they're the same level as the playing field - kinda rec-leagueish, if you ask me. that may be a little nit-picky, but everything else looks outstanding. USC's, too.

with dudy noble's architectural design, we probably can't renovate to have this "look" without tearing down the current structure. since we recently added the skyboxes, i don't think that would happen. i think some kind of club level would be VERY appealing to baseball fans, but i don't know how it could best be incorporated in our current stadium.

I am reading the grandstand holds 8,500 with the new seats. So, I guess y'all are expecting 4,000 to sit around the outfield. </p>

4000 is not unrealistic. Our grandstands held less than 4000 before, and we had crowds in the 9000 range before. The outfield terraces were expanded a couple years ago as well, so there should be a lot of room for seating out there. We'll find out when we pack it out for the first time.

and it is by far the best park in the SEC as of right now. It sits down by the Congaree River but you still see the skyline of Columbia. Very nice park.

I've been sitting here wondering why the Trojans built a new baseball park. USC is in California. SC, or South Carolina, or the Cocks, or The Visors, or whatever else you want to call them, is in South Carolina.

also, do not simply call them "Carolina" as that is reserved for the heels
I think the folks in Columbia might disagree:

I would agree that the state to the north is the original "Carolina". I would also agree the Trojans are the original USC, but since we were talking about SEC facilities I figured any moron with a pulse could figure out USC meant South Carolina.

Was that really necessary to show the quality of the stadium? Nonetheless, South Carolina's stadium is very, very nice.

I bet we could have tricked Powe into coming to State that way- "Come play for Pete Carroll!"
And my original post was an exaggeration, I knew you were referring to South Carolina, it's just in my mind USC will always be Southern Cal.

Before I moved here I refered to South Carolina as South Carolina and USC (Trojans) as USC, but obviously everyone around here refers to SCar as USC.
