Politics generally don't matter. The people who enjoy that sort of thing always find themselves consumed and obsessed with people who don't know them and don't care about them. They are celebrities of a different breed.

You'll find that the average person has no clue what is going on when it comes to politics. So I'm glad that is gone. That thread was also made up of like 15 people.....13 of which all had the same opinion. They would just spend all day arguing about who is gayer and who is and isn't racist lmfao. Then they'd start posting AI twitter posts not knowing it was fake and then everyone would become outraged over something dumb.

So you hate listen everyday? Feels like he’s in your head. That’s even worse.
No I don’t hate listen. I love listen. He also isn’t in my head. I think he sucks as a person and I think he’s an outstanding orator and a knowledgeable Kentucky basketball fan. It isn’t hard to hold both views.

He’s a really good dude. Talks on end about the topic that shall not be named, adds his personal slant on the matter. Then when his supporters who keep his show on the air call in to talk about the topic that shall not be named, they get rudely rebuked and hung up on. Then, the same host complains in the next segment about the fans who tell him he should “stick to sports.”

(ring, ring)

Caller: Hey, uh Matt..can I talk about that topic that shall not be named? You know the one you were just saying…..

(click)

Matt: Stick to sports!
I feel like you are listening to a different show lmfao. This happens what? Every 6 months maybe? Most days the conversation is about random sports topics and something dumb like the drunk raccoon thing or how many free t-shirts Ryan owns.

Find in my post where I said how frequently it occurs. Then we can examine the merit of your claim

Yea but if it happens once does it really matter? It's not really a reason to try and dunk on the guy. I think a lot of people have had some sort of bad experience with a younger version of Matt who by his own accord was a little bit high strung and maybe a jerk. I just haven't had that interaction with him. He's always cool just hanging around talking to fans and doing his thing. I'm sure young Matt was a jerk but a lot of successful people deal with stress differently early on.

I won’t be walking back what I said. I listen to the show enough to have seen what I said on multiple occasions. I don’t like the guy and I don’t have to.

Even granting that just for the sake of argument (it isn’t true), so? That’s staking all of society and its functioning on a gentlemen’s agreement. The altruism of strangers. Never going to work. Plenty of people may opt to follow it, as you say. But the Elon’s of the world never will. There must be regulation.
Is this the new political thread!!!

That is true, the boomers have held onto every penny they have made and most do not want to help the generation they made. I’ve seen a lot of information about this and my wife’s mother is a perfect example. Her husband made great financial decisions. Neither my wife, nor I care about their money, but since she doesn’t like me she won’t help her own daughter or grandkids one bit. She would rather die alone rather than give anything away even in death.
That is sad, but not demonstrative of Boomers any more than any other generalization.

It is crazy that if you listen, you cannot also be critical. Weird concept.

Good for you being able to say parse it all out the way you want it and not the way others generalize.

I listen sporadically. It’s not entertaining to me. But, I know it is to a lot of people.

You seem to care a lot. Do you consider Matt a friend? If so, do you think your criticism is objective?

I never dealt with Matt on Twitter. We probably exchanged thoughts on Wildcatfaithful or Rivals. But, I know young people who followed him on Twitter that claimed he was a baby. But, as you said, people mature and grow. And, we forgive and forget what used to be. If we cannot, we should move on and away.

Matt has taken an idea and made it successful. I don’t know why he was doing play by play for ESPN but he seems to have parlayed KSR into a lot of different business ventures. It’s impressive.

I think its better to just go through life without having animosity towards random strangers for no real reason. But you are correct you don't have to like anyone.
You read very defensive and uber passive aggressive on this subject. Are you dating Matt?

The most hilarious thing ever is when people who are dirt poor, or even middle/upper class, defend these wealth hoarding business families (Lex Wesner, Waltons, Rockefellers, etc.) who have enough money to last multiple generations with each generation owning mansions and Bugatti’s because “They earned that wealth”. Yes, they did, I agree. But now they’re using you as a pawn to maximize every single penny they can while you barely make a livable wage to take 1 vacation per year. And have to miss out on your kids baseball game because you’re forced to work overtime for a company who still makes billions if you work or not.

It’s good to know you don’t use Amazon, shop at Walmart, have a Facebook account, etc.

I respect off the grid homesteaders who are not pawns of the financially successful and only shop with mom and pop. More power to ya.

Ah yes, so now you are victim blaming the people who Wal-Mart pays **** wages to, because they can't afford to spend money somewhere else. Go be a dipshit somewhere else.

Why do you feel it to be necessary to defend the uber elite? Genuine question.

Also, grocery mom and pop stores hardly exist anymore because huge corporations have taken over the market. Same with shoes/clothing stores. It is a monopoly and mom and pop can’t compete with the prices. Nor the production. Because corporations feed off people that need the bare minimum to survive so they will take whatever job they can just to exist.

I do about 1/2 of my hardware shopping or more at a mom and pop in Louisville. There are also small grocery stores, albeit many are specialty shops, in town. I cannot speak for your neck of the woods. But, if you patronize the stores, you support the people you evidently hate. That is a hard place to be.

Explain to me how I defended the “uber elite.” 🤦

doubtful.
Well, it’s obvious your reply to me about never using Walmart/Amazon was sarcasm. So based on the sarcasm that you used I used my knowledge of inferences to make a conclusion that you seem to be okay with large corporations (monopolies) which is what Capitalism sought to battle against, taking advantage of people and essentially running our country. Sorry if I was incorrect.

Not patronizing mom and pops, I’m saying they’re getting screwed because of big corporations.

This definition of patronize: frequent (a store, theater, restaurant, or other establishment) as a customer.

You call out “poor people” who defend the owners of those businesses in some context and then you shop there and give them your money, aren’t you defending those people with your cash? I would think a person who thinks low of “poor people” who defend the rich’s right to be rich would also avoid giving the rich money.

That makes zero sense. You’re obviously conflicted. If you hate a dude so much, why do you want to listen to him talk 2 hours a day? And obviously your BS about the way he talks about politics is nothing but BS. If it bothered you that much you wouldn’t listen all the time. Your obviously confused about your identity, OR, you’re lying and hate listening and he owns you. It’s one of the two. There’s no other scenario. No one listens to someone they hate for 2 hours a. Day. No one.

Poor people don’t have the luxury to pick and choose what they buy or where they buy it from. They are buying at the lowest cost point available to survive.

Do you not have the capability to separate the person from the discussion? You can disagree with a person politically but still agree with other things such as sports.

I don’t hate him. I think you’re misunderstanding the two things:

- Disliking someone for their patent disregard of the people who allow their show to continue.

- Quelling opposing viewpoints while using a megaphone for yours

^ These thing perturb me. If they don’t bother you, so be it. Ironically, I have nothing ill to say to you. My remarks were for the original poster in this thread.

As with many things, I don’t blindly dislike anyone. I hold varying degrees of like for certain things. I find Matt quite entertaining and inviting to discourse on many topics. So, I do enjoy the radio show. I also watch political shows of people far to the left of me — I’m very open to conversation — I think you do not see this for what it is. Nevertheless, I feel no need to explain myself further — if you wish to inundate yourself with only talking points that you agree with, effectively creating a bubble, then do that — I do not. Just an entirely different way of seeing things than you.

He has always been very kind to me when I'm around and I see the way he treats people who are strangers. I see the way you treat strangers on the internet now as well. I'd imagine you aren't a very good person. But again I don't know you.

Between 45-50 guys have gone over to the pt discourse site. I hear over 100 have gone to gyero's.

Take out the overlap(people like me posting on both), how many do you think are still posting at RR?

I didn't really care whether it existed or not. My point was most of the people in the thread were just arguing and I'd say a huge % didn't really even post on anything that was UK Athletics related. They also weren't paying so it's unlikely that On3 will notice it. I'm sure Rowland would have though.

At the moment, Yes, I do not have the means to shop places that are expensive. I live on a tight budget. Depression for reasons I won’t say costed me my job 2 years back and I’m slowly catching back up from debt at that time. It won’t be long until I am and then I will be living comfortably again. As of now, I am tight.

the brief times i went in there i didn't recognize a single name from UK sports threads. as you said, they just all hang in there and agree with each other about everything
