A coworker's son's baseball team got royally screwed this weekend.

First off, I realize that alot of things like this is overzealous parents that thing that the U12 rec baseball circuit is a bigger deal than the AL pennant chase in September, but this one is legit.

Son's team got out to a 12-0 lead in the top of the first inning and held the other team scoreless in the bottom of the first. It began to rain.

After about an hour delay, they came back out and went 1-2-3 in the top of the second, and the other team had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs in the bottom of the second, and the rain started back.

In this tournament, there was a 12 run rule after 3 innings, 10 after 4, 8 after 5. Otherwise the games went 6 innings.

The rain was so much that they had to cancel the rest of the day.

Son's team was 2-0 and had a 12-0 lead on the other team that was also 2-0. There were three pools of three teams each. Everyone played the two other teams in their pool and one crossover game. Because of time constraints, The tournament decided to give the team that was down 12-0 with four outs until being run ruled the pool championship (run differential in other two games). There was another pool where there were two 2-0 teams that never got started, and both those teams' run differential were one run higher than the son's team, so they were eliminated.

Rules are rules. I'm betting the 12 year olds get over it a lot quicker than some of the parents.

What am I missing?

The game that your team was leading 12-0 was cancelled so those runs didn't count according to the rules. Is that correct?

Explain this one more time

You beat me to it Sesh. To make this big a deal about a weekend of elementary school basesball is really ridiculous. This should be a great opportunity to teach the young men that the right call was made and that these things happen in baseball. What these parents taught the kids to do is pout and complain when things don't go there way.

There should be a small red dot close to Kemper Co. Lauderdale Co. line, north of Meridian. I saw him about six months back and again about three weeks later. He did not look like a transient to me.

I looked for a UofMiss beanie orbaseballcap on him and did not see one. so I assume he has no affiliation with any institutions of higher learning in Mississippi. Circus was not in town either.

LSU was up 7-0 or something on us and they canceled the SECT championship game (gave us both co-champions). Sucks if you're up big, but what else can they do?

parents will be talking about it this time next year. It does not matter what town you live in...it is all the same...quite pathetic actually.
