I'm no Jeremiah Short, but I think we win tonight.
Heres why.
Yes, Vandy is on a nine game winning streak. Yes, Vandy is unbeaten in SEC play. Yes, this game is at Memorial Gym, where the ghost of Shan Foster haunts each of us this time of year.
Stansbury-coached teams have a knack for shutting down star players. The term RAT that we have all come to know and love comes from Stansbury-coached basketball - we shut down the superstar only to have the "random *******" go off and have a career night on us.
Jenkins and Taylor are Vanderbilt's scoring threats. Hell, they are 1st and 3rd in the SEC in scoring. Stansbury will have one of them shut down tonight, count on it. Vanderbilt beats us if Ezell has a big game inside against Moultrie and Sidney, which I don't think he can.
Wednesday night we had a cold shooting night. It took us shooting 37 percent for us to lose to Ole Miss. Then on top of it, Ole Miss shot lights out - 50 percent from the field. A decent team would have blown us out by 25 with numbers like that - but we were in it until the last couple of minutes. Shots just wouldn't fall.
Shots will fall for us tonight. Vandy's defense stifled Alabama, but they can't score. Our defensive intensity picks up and we hit shots. State 75, Vandy 67.
