Let me start by saying I'm 17ing thrilled we won, and I'm glad I was wrong about it. Auburn looks like they *might* be bad, but I wonder how much of that was us MAKING them look bad. They played much better last week. These are just some things I feel like need to be cleaned up or could haunt us later. I'll try to throw a positive note in on each point so nobody thinks I'm badmouthing the team or that I'm negative.
-We have GOT to find a ******* kicker. That will KILL us down the road if we don't sort it out. Swedenberg had a good game I thought, and the one time he came close to getting a block he recognized it and kicked it away from the rusher.
-When they ran the 2nd half kickoff back for a TD I wanted to break my television. Most of it was simple laziness on a few players' parts, including Banks, although he had a great game outside of that play. Why don't we kick the 17ing ball out of the endzone every time if we can? Especially since it appears our coverage has some holes in it. That said, the rest of the kickoffs, we actually covered very well and kept them inside the 25. I still like taking the risk out of it, and it appears we have a very good defense. Why not let them stop the other team instead of taking a chance on a return for TD?
-Tyler has got to learn to get rid of the ball quicker, or at least learn when there's a quick drop back that he gets rid of it quickly, or we will be seeing Dak sooner than later because Russell will get hurt. He's got to recognize that blind side rush when it's coming. Outside of a few plays however, he managed the game very well and threw some great passes. He had some moments where he was able to get out of trouble very well and get rid of the ball, even completing some passes on some of them. Just need him to tighten up the awareness.
