May didn't speak for long, but he answered a lot of questions and had some interesting things to say.
1) He thinks we go at least 6-6 this year. May said he thought Mullen was a great hire when we hired him, and he feels even stronger about that now. He also referred to Ole Miss as the @+%*. I hate the saying, but it amuses me that ESPN often refers to Ole Miss this way.
2) He thinks the national championship will be between the winner of the SEC and Ohio State.
3) Continually mentioned that no other conference can even compare to the SEC now.
4) He isn't on the Boise bandwagon. He has Boise State at ten in his preseason poll, which is lower than any of his colleagues. When asked why Boise won't play any SEC teams, he mentioned that the last time they did they got destroyed by Georgia. He said Boise knows better than to play a high-profile SEC team. Also, Boise is asking 1.5 million for a buy game, and this is the reason they claim no one will play them.
5) Said the Kang is an amazing recruiter.
6) Doesn't think very highly of Kiffin and Orgeron. He said it is almost impossible to mess up USC in the next two years, but Kiffin won't be successfull long term. Also said that Kiffin and Orgeron disregard the rules to much and that it is eventually going to catch up with them. He thinks Jeremy Garrett hasgag order on Kiffin.
7) The most interesting thing was this. Bryne, who gave the introduction, came back on stage after May finished speaking to say that he has known May for a long time and that he really respects him. Byrne said that when some talking heads were bashing State's administration for firing Croom, May called him before he went on air toget the details on Croom's firing. He said May didn't want to form an opinion without knowing the reasons for firing Croom. The best apart about this was that LT was sitting two rows in front of me when Bryne was discussing this. After Bryne finished talking, everyone went down and shook Bryne and May's hand. LT avoided them and left quickly.
Also, Byrne's wife appears to be a rather attractive Hispanic.
