have been trying to organize, via twitter, a plan to get everyone to point up to Peggy Prescott along with Dak after he scores. #PointWithDak has been trending on twitter since last night. I think this is a great idea.

Awesome idea...

but I really, really hope it goes no further than that.

I want Dak focused on the game.

The Dak-man himself had retweeted one of the original students who came up with the idea. The guy has "MOM" tattooed on his wrist. I don't think it would detract from his focus. If Dak is on board I think we all should be as well. It's a chance to show the country this "family atmosphere" that Mullen likes to talk about.

I think you missed my point

Fourth quarter, MSU down 14, DAK scores to push us to within 7. Fans start chanting "PEG-GY, PEG-GY". DAK becomes overwhelmed with emotion and can't focus on the game. That's the scenario I'd like to avoid.

Pointing to the sky after the TD? Let's do it. Short and sweet. But don't let it grow into a distraction for Dak. That's all I'm saying.

Point up and start a "Peggy...Prescott" chant similar to the maroon, white one. Of course, that may be a little much. I love the original idea of pointing up though. Sounds cool...just make sure Dak is on board.

And right on cue, this could turn into a major, emotionally overwhelming distraction for Dak.

Don't do this people. Let the kid play the damn game.

Agreed. The point is sincere enough. Any more than that seems too rah rah and could be distracting.

Ah, I see. Perfect illustration of what you meant. Although I don't think most of our fans would be that inconsiderate. Let's #PointResponsibly

That really was amazing at how quickly TheGoat went all TheGoat on us and helped illustrate my point perfectly.

Can I just clap and feel happy for the guy?

If folks want to give a quick gesture because they care for him and his mom, have at it. However, please do it out of sincerity and not to create some sort of spectacle.

People usually throw their hands up after a score. I'm not sure that having 1 finger in the air instead of 5 would be very distinguishable.

I appreciate the intended sentiment, but I view that as Dak's personal way to celebrate and honor his Mom. I'll leave that to him, and support him by acknowledging and cheering him, and all the other players, for their effort and accomplishment.

This makes me feel icky

I would prefer to let Dak keep that as a private and sincere gesture between him and his mom. It kinda trivializes it for everybody else to do it. And please no chant.

Could we use the hand from the top of the church in Port Gibson?

It isn't showing up on his account anymore. I follow him and he often will retweet something and then undo it. But when it started gaining popularity last night he seemed on board with it. Although people usually throw their hands up/reach for their bell after a score anyway. It may not even be noticeable.

where are we getting information that Dak has voiced an opinion?

I've searched twitter and on Dak's twitter feed and have not seen any retweets from Dak on this, as suggested above. Why do we think he's ok with this?

That one is kinda necessary though. How else would we know which direction to find Jesus?

I'll have a drink in one hand and a cowbell in the other. I'll just raise a toast to the team.

They were a customer of mine, I spent a lot of time in there. They have (had?) a wall dedicated and pamphlets about Thomas Jefferson and being a good christian (which he certainly was not, creating his own bible and all). They do have a few full basketball courts, a pool, and maybe bowling lanes

While I appreciate the students' enthusiasm, I don't think it's a good idea. It's way too personal and something he does in memory of his late mother.

Clap, yell and ring a cowbell. Let Dak have his moment to honor his mom. if you didn't personally know her , you should "point to heaven" to thank her for a touchdown. Good intention, maybe, but seems crass and misplaced.

I think this is an awful idea all together. Let Dak have HIS moment to pay his respects. We don't need some clown in the student section hot dogging trying to put attention on himself over exaggerating the kiss to the sky. Yell. Ring your cowbells. But leave the kiss to the sky for Dak. I know y'all will disagree with me but the tv cameras always find the idiots. Please drop this. It's not a good thing. Good intentioned yes but it will not get the intended meaning and belittle what Dak is doing. My opinion and I will not do it.

If Dak wants the chant, I'd say it's done midway through 4th Quarter when his score puts us up by 35.
