A lesson for disgruntled WVU fans

Listen to this, WVU fans unhappy with Huggins:

Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson, after firing hugely successful football coach Mack Brown (259-132-1 lifetime record) in 2013, caused successful basketball coach Rick Barnes (1 losing season in 17 years at Texas; 123-72 lifetime) to leave in 2015 when Barnes refused to fire his assistant coaches.

Enter Shaka Smart who came from Virginia Commonwealth. In 2 years Texas had its worst season since 1983 but is was Smart’s only losing season in 6 years at Texas.

Now Smart is headed for Marquette and Texas has to recover from Steve Patterson shoving out Mack Brown and Rick Barnes, two of the best coaches in the business in football and basketball.

Bob Huggins is one of six basketball coaches in history to win 900 games, has been in 9 Sweet Sixteens, 4 Elite Eights and 2 Final Fours and one of only two coaches in history to win 300 games at two different schools – 310-171 at WVU, where I consider him the best basketball coach in school history with Fred Schaus a close second.

Now, what idiot would want to fire Huggins at WVU? And do what Steve Patterson did to dismantle Texas’ successes?

Huggins has finished behind that trainwreck the last three years.

Don't see where the argument is at
Leave him alone. He’s 90 and pissed off this week. Don’t want him to post Smarts won/loss record for the last 17 yrs or his teams points per game since his first yr.

Ah, more people digging themselves an early grave by picking on an 88-year-old (not 90 ... yet!) and being so miserable and angry. As my grandson once told his classmate: "So, you're mad at me for being smarter than you?" The reply: "Well, yes." Stop being angry at me for being smarter than you. And stop the pissing match. Let's exchange information about my beloved alma mater's sports teams. More power people than you have taken me on ... and lost!

Its always a difficult situation. You have to weigh total success vs. is there the chance you can do better?

Huggins has done some good, some bad, and some in between.

Really depends on the goals of a school. Texas demands championships (even though they don't get there very often). They won't accept just getting into the NCAA sometimes, they want to advance in the tourney. They won't accept not winning in football and being in playoff contention.

Some schools are ok with just being mentioned sometimes and just getting into the tourney.

Huggins has gotten to the dance, but for whatever reasons cant win it all (like many).

One day he will retire or be asked to leave and WVU will have to try to find someone else that maybe can finally deliver a championship.

LOL old timer. You’re confused buddy. Super happy and just had my first grandchild delivered to us by God a week ago. My son is positioned really well with a P5 football for a long coaching career. I went to Pitt and Carnegie so fairly certain your intellectual insecurities are well founded when you communicate with me. You’re angry because you embarrassed yourself and now your projecting and deflecting. Let it go old timer.

Texas just made bad decisions. It isn’t a reflection of what WVU is doing. The 2 are unrelated.

Dana was lazy and WVU expected more from him.

Huggins puts in the work and does get good output from him work.

Its not me not being nice to you sir. You’re insufferable and very confrontational. You create your own madness.
