Heading into this weekend, the SEC's Top 3 Eastern division schools (Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina) have a combined record of 34-4.

The top 3 Western Division teams (MSU, LSU, Ole Miss) have a combined record of 41-2.

So the top 6 teams in the league have a combined record of 75-6 through 81 games played combined.

That's 17ing stout.

Vandy and MSU are the most likely candidates of hurting that stat this weekend, but Kentucky has a tough series with Michigan St as well. 3 series to keep an eye on over the weekend.

Edited: FYI...Kentucky is currently up 2-1 in the 8th inning of game 1 vs Michigan St.

That's good info and it's good to see it, especially with State being ranked like that. Nevertheless, baseball polls don't mean much, particularly early in the season.

Michigan State doesn't seem that great...

Went 1-4 against Furman and Austin Peay.

That is ridiculous. I'm really curious to see how many national seeds and host sites the SEC winds up with. I was (and still am) optimistic about our chances of getting a national seed, but its gonna be damn difficult to end up in the top 2 or 3 in the league, which is what I think it will take. We also have the most difficult conference schedule of the top 6 teams by far, which doesn't make things any easier.

The SEC West has 19 total losses heading into tonight's games. The 3 teams in the East that we don't play (UT, UGA, and Mizzou) are the only teams in the conference with losing records and have 20 losses amongst them, more than the entire SEC West.

Given that teams like Vandy and South Carolina will have 9 games against each of these bad SEC East teams and every team in the West has at least 3 or 6 games against them while we have 0, we are going to have our work cut out for us to earn a national seed.
