A little monday trivia......

Who was the last straight-on kicker that was the primary guy for State and who was our first 'side-saddle' kicker (as jack called it)?

1st soccer style guy was Kenny Jordan in 76. Oddly enough our last straight on guy followed Kenny in 77 and 78 - Dave Marler.

I thought the last straight on was probably marler and also figured we had to have had a soccer style guy somewhere in the preceding years. I don't remember Jordan so I'll take your word for it. Marler only kicked one year didn't he? He was our QB one year and a darn good passer too.

Marler kciked both years..............

until he hurt his leg before the Bama game. I remember when we played LSU the next game he couldn't kick the game winning FG. We trotted out Rusty Martin, a LB, to kick it. He made it and we won 16-14. In fact, Rusty may very well have been our last straight on kicker. I'm not sure if Marler kicked in the OM game, but I don't think he did.
