A msg to Gameday Operations: Let's just go ahead and kill The Junction dead.

I get that you want to have a Bulldog Club circus tent. I get that you want to have an Alumni circus tent. I get that Barnes and Noble and Adidas pressure you into getting privileged space for their tents.

But get them out of The Junction.

This is absolutely out of control. You are singlehandedly killing the J's atmosphere and displacing and pissing off your most loyal fans.

I find it hard to believe there aren't better spots for these tents. And if you must have one in the Junction at least make it look like you give a damn.

Here's the best list I could find for the heroes that are making these brilliant decisions:

Totally agree

The giant white tents are brutally bad. It needs to be straight tailgating. Just move it right accross the street next to the other corporate stuff.

Those giant tents are terrible. They caused us problems last year, forced us to move this year for the first time in 6 years and we can never consistently get the same spot. There are more of them for each and every game throughout the season. If you are going to have them, don't add more each game. It really screws all of the other people.

It's like our own university and athletic department can't grasp the spirit of The Junction or what it's about. It kills me.

I keep thinking "it will get better" but it just keeps getting worse.

After walking through the junction after a couple games, I don't mind pushing some people out.

If the school is going to not only allow a centralized tailgating area, why shouldn't it get some benefit from it? And what do you mean by "killing" the junction? What are these tents preventing from happening?

Tailgating. They are in the way. Also, they are a waste of space. Usually just a few people sitting around tables while everyone else is jammed together.

Thanks school for giving us a tailgating area and then taking over massive space with circus tents.**

Yeah and while they're at it, they should provide the students free trash bags to clean up after themselves.

Oh. wait.

Not that long ago, up until the early 2000s I think, the Junction was Lot 11. We parked there and tailgated there with no problem. Could walk to the game in about a minute. Blame the existence of the Junction on Jackie's success during that era. We no longer tailgate because it's so far from the stadium. The good ole days were fun but couldn't last.

I'm so confused.

Are you saying you'd rather us be terrible at football so you can be lazy and flip the tailgate of your truck down, maybe set up your blue tent, and then get wheeled into the game so you don't have to walk? And that The Junction is a bad thing because selfishly it was more convenient for you before?

Sweet 6lb 8oz baby manger scene y'all don't even know what we have right in front of us. Talk about taking The Junction for granted.

Almost ready to give up on some of y'all. Hate the Junction, hate the national anthem. smh

Hate to say it but it's a typical Mississippi State move....big brother to watch over things so they won't get out of control and distort the "family" image which is frankly boring.

Correct. I'm happy the way it is now. I can see the OP's beef though if he's tailgating behind the big tents.

I don't get the argument about them taking up space

When there has been plenty of space for more tents in the junction at each of the home games this year. I would be more concerned with the junction having proper drainage to make some of that space more tailgater friendly after a rainy week when it comes to wanting space.

The white tents are an eyesore though. Wouldn't mind if they made them maroon with the alumni association logo, or other logos for the other corporate tents as long as they can make them maroon and white.

Absolutely. The mess some of those campers make is horrendous. They should move them to the lot below Campus Bookmart so nobody can see the debris.

Just give me a midget tossing tent and I'm golden.. But seriously does the university need to benefit more from selling merchandise in the middle of the Junction? Give the space to "The Kangs People" and ye shall be rewarded greatly. If you don't like what's happening in that part of the junction then do what people in Jackson,New Orleans and Memphis have learned to do.. They relocate to a more Pleasantvillle type establishment. We're looking for a gameday atmosphere here..not a kumbaya sing along....

the stripper poles are not feasible in that location, and most people dont appreciate bong water getting spilled on them.

That looks awful. In typical university fashion, MSU doesn't understand why it is cool to have everyone tailgating in that spot

At the auburn game, the biggest in msu history, there were empty tailgating spots in the junction. So what's the issue?
Are all of these tailgate whiners just trolls?

This was my thought as well. I mean, I know there's a lot going right at the moment, but I really think some folks are grasping at straws to find something to get pissed about.

Here's a handy list of more legitimate crap to fret over:

Ebola
Dak and Jrob possibly leaving early
Dan Mullen could leave
Graduating OL
Likely assistant coach turnover
Fall Weddings
World Series pushing good TV shows off air
Soccer and Volleyball teams suck
Will Men's Basketball suck?
11 am games
Obamacare

Step up your game, trolls, this is weak.**

Just to clarify, are you guys wanting to drive your vehicles into the junction, or just unhappy that corporate sponsors and donors get the spots closest to the stadium?

As always lately, I guarantee you there will be empty space in the Junction today. That is a much bigger problem than the university setting up tents.

I think they are mad because they may have to set up somewhere that they can't see the new north end zone screen.

Some will complain about anything

- #1 team in the nation
- 10 game winning streak
- Home game this weekend with one of the best in-game atmosphere's in college football
- An athletic department that is committed to winning and will be (better be) ponying up MAJOR cash this offseason (yes that means appeasing the corporate-types sometimes)

And we have 2 threads on the front page about tailgating woes.

Take a step back and look at the big picture. I'm sorry your picnic was moved to a different location.
