Was it Claussell that missed the block that turned a 35+ play into a 3 yard gain (those numbers are solely from my memory and prob incorrect)? And Ballard with the pass? A "trick" play like that would be deadly if we could ever execute smoothly.
He was going to cut the guy, but he dove too soon, and the guy just ran right around him. He didn't even need to stay on his block... If he had just nudged the guy just a little bit Relf would have been running a long time.
Not the throwback, but the part where we've got the ball outside with a lead blocker & one man to block. The lead blocker whiffs and instead of having a big gain we pick up a few yards.
....through some miracle of miracles, we attempt something flashy with a throwback pass and it actually works, but for only three yards gain. Any other team would've taken that to the house.
The reason that play did not work is because we threw the ball to Relf. Relf is terribly slow and couldn't get his feet out of the mud. We need Perkins or Jameon catching that pass.
