Unfortunately the ******** that holler "down in front" don't know what is a tweet and have no mechanism for the delivery thereof. Has anyone invented a type of instant message available on a jitterbug?

They need to put an addendum to the end of this to say something along the lines of "It UT is inside our 10 yard line on a 4th and goal with :35 remaining in the game and trailing by 4, please notice that the 'don't ring' message will be turned off during game play."

They might as well hook up a battery to the bleachers and give the blue hairs a little shock when they choose to sit during a 100 yard Banks pick six.

I hope not!!

The loudest DWS has ever been for a whole game (not just 1 play like AJ's 100 yard pick 6 against Bama) was the Arkansas game 2 years ago. That week Stricklin had to make a respect-the-bell push. Fans complied, put the bells down, and YELLED.

Cowbell noise radiates in all directions, and is really loud in the stands. But yelling, especially with cupped hands, is focused towards the field and is a lot louder on the field than ringing,

I was at that game and this is 100% true. During timeouts people would be ringing and then when play resumed the bells quit and it got WAY louder. I never would have believed it if I hadn't been there and heard it for myself.

We need to bust out the 2 bits cheer. That always results in firing everyone up enough to stand up and hollar.

It makes a lot of sense. Our ears and vocal chords have evolved so that voices are more audible than other frequencies. It's also perfect since Tyler Bray's voice is of the same frequency as all our drunkenly yelling fans.

This.

Put your damn bells down and yell. It helps preserve our only real tradition AND it's louder. No reason not to.

That game was incredibly loud. Loudest I have every heard and it was all because of people yelling and not ringing. If you want to be the guy who rings no matter what then ring but also YELL. Most people when they ring down do anything else.

Agree! It is ridiculous that our fans think the cowbells make a bigger impact on the playing field over simply yelling with hands cupped to direct the sound down to the field. Maybe one day all our fans will figure this out.
