Princeton should show some balls and expel the BLM crew. They're the real racists.

I doubt more than a small minority of people want to remove Woodrow Wilson's name from Princeton.

That maybe true, the black lives movement is small and radical. But they have already started the process of removing Wilson's name from Princeton. Liberal leaders on these campuses are nothing but cowards.

I believe that movements should pick their battles more judiciously; I think this one will fall into the category of pushing for too much. I think that the general public has disdain for historical figures like Nathan Bedford Forrest and Jefferson Davis but not the same disdain for historical figures with racist pasts like, Staunton's Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and many others. That being said, the students have a right to their protests and if Princeton caves, that's on them. But it seems like a reach to me.

Instead of expunging his names from records and buildings; they should use it as a springboard for change/something to use as a teaching point--not pretend it didn't happen. There should be some compromise.

That's the rational way to approach it. I agree, but I'll be surprised if something isn't done. I don't think Wilson will be expunged, but probably reduced significantly.

They have already started to reduce his exposure on campus. I wonder where this ends on campuses? At what point do adults take over if there are any adults in college administrations. James Madison, for example, was racist as were many of our Founding Fathers. And you can probably find racist things about most important Americans from 50 to 100 years ago. Bob Byrd, for example.

I agree. We can't expect historical people to have endorsed modern day ideas on all issues. What I can't understand is why we can't discuss the good and bad about these folks, and talk about their views through the lens of their place in history.

You're exactly right. We should be able to do that especially in a University setting. But this crowd doesn't want that. It's absurd in the extreme and appalling that administrators are acquiescing.
