Mississippi State QB recruit Nick Fitzgerald


Saw him score seven total touchdowns in a key region win for his team tonight. He is 6’5’‘, 215 with a very impressive mix of drop-back passing skills but also move-the-chains mobility. He makes all of the throws with great zip on his passes but, interestingly enough, is extremely effective running the football in an offense that features mostly flexbone and diamond formations.


He looks the part: stands tall in the pocket, follows through on his throws, can run over and around you. Actually was his team’s best receiver last year before switching to quarterback this season. His upside is off the charts. Talking to his coaches, is also a great leader who does things right in the classroom and in the community. An impressive young man, who seems to have an “it” factor about him.


Have seen him and gotten to know him some and just wanted to share. I think Mississippi State has an absolute steal in this young man. Remember the name.

I agree, both he and Staley have high upsides. Be interesting to see how those two compete. I've never been a huge fan of signing two QBs in one class because one almost always leaves, but it'll be fun see those two battle it out.

There are two positions you need to oversign like crazy... QB and OL.

QB because so many will transfer if they don't get playing time, and OL because so many get hurt.

Staley may do that as well... his dad wants him to and he has the grades to -- the question is if they can coax him into forgoing his SR season.

Would be incredible to have him show up in time to help the basketball team in some small role then roll straight into spring football practices...

I would imagine with Williams not redshirting both will redshirt. The upside of signing multiple mobile QB's is that they can play different positions. Staley would make a great 6'7'' TE and at 6'5'' Fitz can play WR or TE. I'm sure they know that it's down to beating the other out for the QB spot or they'll turn to a skill position. I don't know how they'd respond to that, but that's a win-win for me.

Fitzgerald has an awesome highlight real of him playing QB and some WR and S. He's awesome and he plays against good competition. I think Staley plays against good comp and I do like him as a prospect, but that highlight real that was posted on twitter was against some garbage competition. We're talking slow private school in Wiscaaaansin type slow athletes.
