The man has given 20 years of his life to Mississippi State. We have won more with him in 14 years than we have with any other coach. Yes, I think he has badly underachieved, with this year being his biggest failure. Yes, I think we cando much better. Yes I want a new coach.

Because of the first two sentences above, I hope that he just pulls a Jackie Sherrill and "resigns" for the overall good of the program instead of forcing the AD's hand to fire him.

bucks because you are "doing the right thing"? That would be one hell of a decision to make.

Coaching takes a lot out of you and 14 years at one job is a lot for a coach unless you are a legend IMO. Stans is what he is a good coach. He is not a great coach and not a legend. I think having to coddle Sidney and the attrition caught up with us finally. We really miss players like Gardner and Long and the gamble on the foreign player. We also miss a guy like Romero Osby that would have been big for us. It's really almost like the team didn't care and Stans downfall is that he hasn't had player leaders like Timmy Bowers, Z, Vincent, heck even Charles Rhoads was a great leader and cared about MSU. Rhoades kissed the M logo on senior day at half court. Dee is a great player and probably one of the best PGs we have ever had but he is no leader. Never has and never will. Stans has always been a player's coach. This really is on his recruiting because he should have recruited players more like Hood then players like Sidney. Sure, Sidney has improved but at what cost. Player leaders make good teams great and great teams final four teams. We have not had any player leaders in a long time...I will say this. Whoever the new coach is, he needs to make sure he recruits the heck out of Hood because I can see him becoming a great leader. It's just really hard to do as a true freshman!
