A Simple Fact...we lost not because of Mullen...

the called plays were fine...we simply did not execute...end of statement and end of game. Move on.

I'm encouraged. Folks see the negatives, but this team plays better football than any team we've had in a long time. Including the liberty bowl team, IMO. We are getting better. Noone expected much this year and now we're all upset about not beating a LSU team that preseason we thought would kill us. Expectations are rising fast, but we need to keep it in perspective. We were one play from beating a top 10 team. Don't forget that.

a. the jump pass was a good call but Tyson didn't execute and b. the option was a good call but Tyson didn't execute. The only discretion is that we didn't put in Relf which seemed like the obvious call, but then again he might have 17ed up cuz he's not amazing with the option.

I agree, move on beat Georgia Tech, a bowl is for sure in our reach, we need to keep our heads up and keep moving foward. The program is headed in the right direction.

...great effort, but the disparity of talent level between the two teams rose to the surface at the end of the game.

Yeah, what would everyone be saying if Mullen had put Relf in and he fumbled or made a bad pitch? The bitchers would say....'.wtf , why did he put him in?' When things go wrong, there will all ways be second quessing.

have scored. Is Mullen suppose to go out there and pitch the ball for the QB?? Sometimes its up to the players on the field to make the right decisions and today ours didn't at least not in crunch time.

Great game by our coaches and players. Not perfect, obviously. One question....didn't we have 3 timeouts left? I sure would have liked to see a TO there to talk it through and think about it clearly. But certainly don't wanna second guess. Coaches have to make decisions in split seconds and don't get the benefit of hindsight like we do.

The jump pass was wide open, Lee just didn't put enough on it. The option was open too, Lee just made the wrong read. Excellent playcalls though. I know a loss is a loss, but how many of us would've still been there in Q4 had we still had Slytanic? The answer, none of us because we would've been down 35-0.

We can second guess the playcalling until the day we die. And many of us probably will. Twenty years from now I'll talk about being half an inch away from beating LSU in 2009. Maybe Relf should have gone in for a sneak, maybe we should have just handed it to Dixon two more times. I can't disagree with either of those suggestions. But from what I saw, the play calls looked solid. We just didn't execute. We still need a quarterback.

Agreed that play calling was not the issue.

The no jump pass was wide open. I just watched the 4th down over and over and it was a walk in score if it had been pitched. Everyone pinched inside and Dixon had Ducre out there to block as well. They both looked shocked that the ball wasn't pitched.

I do think we have a shot at 6 or 7 wins. Glad we didn't get blown out for a change.

He probably should have called a timeout after he saved all 3, but the guy was only coaching his 4th game. He'll learn from this and probably use it next time to tell Lee to pitch it to Dixon.

Our superior coaching and game plan almost overcame LSU's huge talent advantage. The last two plays on goalline were wide open. The 50-yard touchdown pass to Green on third and one was brilliant: the commentators couldn't believe the formation; everyone thought it was going to Dixon. If Tyson doesn't make that play, everyone is bitching that we didn't just give it to Dixon.

When Mullen closes the talent difference, we win these games. But it does hurt bad to lose to cocky LSU this way. Did you see the smug look of Les Mile's face when the final State pass went incomplete? And I couldn't believe at halftime he blamed the close score on LSU mistakes (bad punt snap). LSU was way out-coached. The more talented team won, but the better team, including coach, lost.
