A weird Miss State baseball question.

I'm guessing it was anywhere from10-12 years ago, State was playing in some regional on the road. Facing a team that had a stud power hitter & I believe he also played football & was a stud there also. I remember he had a long last name. For some reason, was thinking it may have been kyle vandon baush... but when looking online, I couldn't find anything baseball wise on him, in my quick search . I know KVB played at Nebraska. It seemed like the team I'm thinking about was red & white. Ohio State comes to mind... Anyone know the team & player I'm thinking of? I know this is a strange question.

Wow! That is weird. I was in my garage yesterday cleaning out some stuff, and found a Kent State '01 Scouting Report on the top of a bin. Very random. I remember Van Benschote (sp) coming in the 9th and losing it. They had a lefty hitter named Mattle who was pretty good as well.

If you were there, you remember Swisher was playing at OSU, and when Kent State beat OSU that Sat night, it was like they won the World Series. They were going nuts, and OSU was shocked. Everybody was shocked really. Needless to say the "North-ern Base-ball" chant wasn't chanted the next day. (Thank God!) I think it was that year (may have been '99, but I think it was '01) that some of the OSU players said in the media that they were glad they got a Mississippi State team instead of a good team like UCF.
