Don't we have two running back recruits coming here in the 2024 class?
Guerrier and Winowich?

True warrior and was a huge get a year after his brother joined us. Just was not able to shake injury bug. Wishing him well! I think he would do well at Temple or Delaware, which is moving to FBS.

I stand by my statement
That's fine, just pointing something out that many have notice/know, all good though! The only thing we're "losing' here is an excellent teammate. Pretty sure his touches were going to be even fewer next season.

This is one position we could afford to lose someone with KM, Sam, Benjamin and the freshman Guerrier coming in.

Young had 3 receptions. Not exactly a large sample size to draw such a conclusion? He did have 2 TDs. Monangai and Benjamin had more receptions. Benjamin had that circus catch that went for a TD (or nearly so).

Benji is going 2 on depth next year but I wish they'd throw to Kongo more. Benji adds that in spades

Best of luck to him!

Unfortunately he got caught in a logjam at that position. With KM & Brown holding down the position and Benjamin in the wings, there's just not much of an opportunity to shine.

I remembering seeing his HS tape and thinking that he’s going to be a star. He had speed, power and those lose hips that make the best RBs elusive. It’s a shame that he didn’t get enough of an opportunity.

Tidbits about young . He had been a major factor in schiano 2.0 . Schiano probably doesn’t make any of the two bowls without him (in 21 and 23).
He had two of the biggest touchdowns in schiano 2.0 . He scored the winning touchdown at Purdue in 2020. He scored the pivotal touchdown against Michigan state this year when the punter dropped the soap.
Young was a good student - all academic BIG. His grades helped us get to Gator in 21 .

Ironically, one of the best offensive plays of 2023 was a Simon to young td pass against Wisconsin

Young's Career Stats

he was a vital part of the team and had some great moments, but never really stood out in the crowd
Just was a talented player that wound up behind other talented players

What about the Apr ? That is schiano’s backdoor entry into a bowl game next year
so you predict a 5-7 season next year., because Young left and hoping the loss of him won't hurt apr bowling eligibility ❓
I feel the production lost by his leaving will be replaced by the other backs.
Ja'shone will have a year of college ball experience and might blunt the loss on field , but Benjamin can't be expected to match Young's classroom excellence.

Also I'm of the opinion that a back door apr won't be needed anymore because the G2 era has RU FB now headed to qualifying for bowl games based on having a winning record and not getting an invite like in 2021 based on APR in which Aaron's acadenmics had a large roll in Rutgers playing in the Gator that year .

Frankly, I thought Young wasn't very impressive carrying the ball. He was good catching passes out of the backfield though.

You know- it is sort of weird- we were 6-6 with possibly a top 5 difficult schedule. And while next year is not easy- it is in no way at that level.
We have pretty much kept all good players- and like it or not, GW will most likely be at least a little better, OL a lot better...And we may actually have a weapon or two at WR...

Why do so many expect us to be worse?

Probably

a) Anti GW, or
b) Anti-Schiano

Agree- and I don't think either gets worse...Maybe they don't improve much but with the amount of starters returning- our staff under Schiano and a couple of transfers...we should actually be better

get a better qb, a more consistent qb who can make the 'expected' completions and we are absolutely better. If we had this year, I'm saying strong possibility of 8 wins

much of the anti greg is not unfounded with the way the qb room is grown, managed, and moved around on the board. It's a major concern for me

coaching- no need to rehash the obvious

yes we should be better across the board imho regardless

Back to A. Young- and i am pulling the training collar on all of us- yes, I have a German Shepherd pup...lol

He has always been there to do what was asked of him- he has also been very good in situations. Reminds me of K Young...injuries just got in the way.

I hope he gets a good spot, where he can play, complete his education and have the opportunity
