Still searching for that rule? You can keep claiming this, but you’ll still be wrong. Under current NCAA rules, coaches have no authority to impose these sort of monetary fines (especially since the players’ money isn’t coming from the university itself). What’s specified in an NIL contract does not override the school’s obligation to comply with NCAA rules.
That’s why you can’t cite a single prior example of a coach ever doing this before. It’s simply not presently allowed.
Not sure why Penny made this comment. Maybe he was just joking or messing with us, or maybe he’s too dumb to know better. But the rules don’t permit him to do what he claims he’s done.
just two bodies banging in the paintCal should have fined him when he kissed a dude he was trying to bow up to.
That's a shame. These kids need to understand that if you don't do the job, their boss might be inclined to not pay them.Coaches aren’t supposed to have any control over the distribution of NIL money after the ink on the contract is dry. They can’t make it contingent on subsequent performance or internal team rules.
He can bench him, suspend him or even kick him off the team under the rules. But he can’t cut off the NIL money already contractually promised to him.
At least that’s my understanding of how it works.
Tied it to his effort. So, I'm 99% sure what he just admitted to is a violation. NIL cannot be tied to performance. He tied it to his performance.
And we were all salivating for him to play when he was hurt.Top 5 recruit and he's playing 15 mpg in the American as a junior. What a disappointing recruiting class overall.
