Tyson Lee had the 4th best QB rating in the SEC last year (per 930 AM in Jackson). Anthony Dixon is approaching a school rushing record. All of this in spite of Croom's complete ineptitude on offense.
Lee and Dixon are going to have breakout years playing for one of the best offensive coaches in football. Dixon will roll up some yards not having to run into 8 and 9 man fronts. Lee, having done it all on his own know-how up to know, is finally getting some quality coaching. These two offensive leaders will clearly be a lot better this year.
Who's going to support them? B-Mac is a good enough WR to be 1st or 2nd string on any SEC team. Oneal Wilder is catching everything in his zip code. I can't remember another time we had two WRs as tall as those two guys. Bumphis is wearing Eric Moulds number and could be as breakout freshman sensation. We've got some other shifty WRs as well.
Our defense won't be as good as it has been the last few years. But with our offense is going to be 3-4x better.
Mark my words, we're going to have a chance to go to a bowl game. It will likely come down to having to beat either Arkansas on the road or Mississippi at home. I wouldn't predict a bowl game, but we are going to have a chance. And we're also gonna scare the hell out of a team or two that should whip us.
