If Aberdeen gets another year and plays for Florida, does that mean he could've played another year for us ?? I think he could, but am not sure. With Diallo at the point now, I think Aberdeen would've been a very good shooting guard. Highly-experienced and a decent defender ...

Of course he could have, he chose not to. He’s better than anyone on our roster, IMO, which isn’t saying much.

Okay ... thanks ... I wasn't sure. Could Brea, Carr, Williams, Kriisa, Robinson and Butler all stayed at their schools for their fifth year ... or was the extra Covid year different ??

Yeah that's how it works, you only get an extra year if you transfer from Kentucky to Florida.
Are you saying that you can play 5 years, but not all 5 at the same school and/or you have to move between 4th and 5th year ?? I may be lame, but I'm confused about how it works.

Yes, those guys are doing what most other players are doing shopping for the best offer

One and Done takes on a new meaning under Pope. Most players only want to play one year for him before they start getting sick of his neuroscience talk. That is, of course, unless Pope pays them more than market value to stay (here's looking at you Moreno and Kam!).

Aberdeen is like the ex husband that goes running back to his first wife after he thought he "upgraded."

He got his bag and couldn’t wait to get away from Pope

lol the one and thing funny oweh, bg, chandler, Noah, moreno, Kam all have to came back for second seasons. on cals team barely anyone came back at Kentucky. Aberdeen I don't think would be best team on this roster, at end of year great, begining of year he clunked up shots and was selfish. plus during florida games he was bad.

Wilkins, Zoom, and our foreign big guy potentially can be better, overall. defensively he was solid.

Aberdeen was UKs 2nd best player last year, so the bashing him is odd. He is a perfect 3rd guard on a really good team. He's not a starting PG or SG, but he is a great bench option to back up either position. That is exactly how Golden used him on his way to NC and it is how he will use him again if he is granted a 5th year(which he shouldn't be).

No reason to insult. You're like some of the other posters here. Flip flop between not liking Pope and defending him. Can you make up your dang mind?
It's okay for those people to say something negative about a player or the coach, but as soon as someone else says something negative they respond with some kind of condescending remark. Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this pattern.

I wish he were back with us. I think he would've been even better without having to play PG.

Based on what people have said, what I've seen at KY and what I've been able to find out through research ... it seems that fifth year players, for the most part, tend to move on to another school. I wasn't sure whether they were required to, or not. Now, I know they can play their fifth year at the same school.

He was pretty vocal multiple times during the season that he missed home. Which is Florida. And he’s going back to the favorite next season for the title.

I wish people could read thru some stuff!

Aberdeen did not want to be here. Money pulled him in last year, and I'm not dogging him. But I don't think he clicked with a few guys he played with last year. There were multiple issues last year, and BBN has completely lost its perspective. Can't see past issues to get a clear perspective, and they are doing more damage to KY basketball then any coach or media. And for the record, pope will be gone if he doesn't have a good year next year by ky standards.
But fans are pulling for him to flop so they can be right or whatever reason is sickening!!

I learned from this thread and now understand.
Brea, Williams, Carr, Kriisa, Robinson and Butler could've stayed at their previous schools, rather than leave for their fifth playing year. I didn't know that and had erroneously assumed they had to leave and that's why I asked about Aberdeen. To my view, that now makes their coming here as a group even more impressive.
